PADUCAH, Ky. (August 29) - Friday was a chance for PIR to say "thanks" for a great season on Fan Appreciation Night with half-price adult grandstand admission and dozens of prizes for loyal fans. On the first day of Labor Day Weekend, the showers stopped at 1:45 and 112 racecars filled the pits.
Long time favorite Randy Sellars of Mayfield won a spirited race-long battle with Dylan Thompson, the youngster from Paducah. The 20-lap victory was the first of the season for the PIR veteran. Benton's Tim Brown was third. Thompson and Charles Boze won the heat races.
