LEBANON, Ore. (August 23) - John Duty gave Mike Miller a big hand Saturday night.

Duty, of Portland, led the final 33 laps to win the Outlaw Late Model A-Main event, holding off three-time track champion and points leading Trevor Glaser of Tangent over the closing laps for his third win of the season at the 1/3-mile clay oval of Willamette Speedway.

Polesitting Gary Archer took the initial lead while Duty, running Miller's No. 17m, fell behind Archer into second.

Shortly after a lap 6 caution, Duty, who ran Glaser's number in an I-5 race earlier this season, went to the outside of Archer coming out of turn two and completed the pass for the lead by the time the pair reached turn three.

Glaser, starting ninth, made his way to second by lap 18 and took off after Duty, who had checked out on the field. Glaser made his way up to Duty's bumper, but Duty held off Glaser's repeated attempts for the victory.

Fast timer Russ Sell, finished third after starting 15th, Darren Coffell finished fourth and trophy dash winning Jeremy Shank rounded out the top five after starting in 14th.

In the outlaw B-Main, Lebanon driver Randy Boyd took the lead with seven laps to go in the 30-lapper and won with brother Bob Boyd moving forward to place second. Fred Lang placed third with Ryan Gerig in fourth and Ron Shinkle in fifth.

In the modified A-Main, Sean Gentry of Dayton held off charges from points-leading Rob Mayea and Kevin Keeney in the closing laps to win his second A-Main in three weeks. Keeney finished second with points leading Mayea in third, Gus Cooper in fourth and Rob Jeffers in fifth. Kelly Williamson won the Modified B-Main.

In the Super Sport A-Main, class points-leading Sell, who set fast time and won the trophy dash, picked up his seventh main event win and fourth in the past six weeks. Sell, who started the main event in 13th, was followed to the finish by Brian Smith, Craig Cassell, James Slover and Kye Frick. Dan Kingsbery won the Super Sport B-Main.

The sportsman class was thrown for a loop when the top two points runners, Mike Bennett and Jason Sommer had engine problems and didn't run in the main event. Fast timer Brian Crook of Portland won the main event Brad Landers finishing second while spinning across the finish line. Jordan Sim was third with Troy Points in fourth and Craig Phillips in fifth. Jeff Marson beat teammate Bill Gibbs to win the Sportsman B-Main and Casey Rhoades won the Sportsman C-Main.

Points leading Bob Kingsberry won the Classic Sportsman A-Main with Kevin Roberts in second and Rich Speer in third.

Willamette Speedway returns Aug. 30-31 with the Labor Day Classic for all the track's regular classes except the modifieds.
