FORT PAYNE, Ala. (August 23) - Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL made his first visit to Fort Payne Motor Speedway pay off, as he took the 25-lap Super Late Model feature race win in the ALT Transportation car. McRee started on the pole and led all 25-laps to post the "clean sweep."
Brian Smith finished second after a late-race battle with Kyle May, who had to settle for the third spot. Marty May finished fourth, with John Winge taking the fifth spot. Jason Williams was sixth, and Brian Grider took the seventh spot. Bobby Pruitt finished eighth, Jason Steele was ninth, and Kenny Brown rounded out the top ten.
McRee earned the pole position after setting fast time with a lap around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 15.471 seconds, and took the lead at the drop of the green flag followed by Smith, Chris Beck, Virgil Taylor, and Kyle May. Beck spun on lap five on the backstretch to bring out the first caution flag.
That moved Taylor up to the third spot for the restart, but he spun in turn four on the restart. On the next restart, Kyle May got around Smith for second, and on lap seven, Pruitt and Chad Stone got by Brown to move up to fourth and fifth respectively.
Stone spun on lap nine in turn two and collected Brown to bring out the caution flag. On the restart, Taylor spun in turn two collecting Beck and Marty May. On the restart, Winge and Williams raced up to the fourth and fifth spots respectively, but Williams spun in turn four on lap 11.
McRee was able to pull away from Kyle May and Smith on the restarts, and during the second half of the race, Smith put the pressure on Kyle May for the second spot. McRee had a full straightaway lead on the field by lap 15. Smith was able to get by Kyle May for the second spot on a lap 20 restart, but he could not catch McRee.
