JAMAICA, Va. (August 22) - Walker Arthur of Forest, VA made it two in a row in the Victory Lap Late Model division at Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway by taking the 35 feature on Cintas / WRAR / WNNT Night. Arthur took the lead from Stephan Evans of Tyner, NC on lap 8 as the two raced through heavy traffic and then pulled away to cruise to his fourth win of the season.

"The competition here at VMS is a good as it gets, I don't know if I could have gotten by Stephen (Evans) if not for the slower traffic," commented Arthur in victory lane.

Stephan Evans and Tony Buckler led the field to green with Evans leading the first lap. Caution would come out on lap 2 and on the restart Arthur dove his car inside Evans in turn 3, the two touched coming out of turn 4 with Evans holding on to the lead.

On lap 7 in heavy traffic Arthur made the right choice and took over the lead from Evans. Once out front Arthur began to pull away as Evans and Long battled for second.

On lap 15 Evans jumped the cushion in turn 3 and Long took advantage to take over second. Evans kept the pressure on Long for second and over the next 14 laps Evans worked to find the line around Evans. Finally on lap 30 Evans got a huge run off of turn 2 to pull even with Long as they raced into turn 3. As the two exited turn 4 Evans had enough room to take over the second spot.

With Evans and Long battling for second Arthur was able to cruise on to his fourth win of the season. With the victory Arthur also re-took the division's point lead over long. Trailing Arthur to the checkers were Stephen Evans, Stevie Long, Austin Hubbard and Scott Adams. Ben Bowie was the Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Rookie of the Race with his eighth place finish.
