Dave Seay JAMAICA, Va. (August 16) - Walker Arthur of Forest, VA captured Saturday night's 35 lap Victory Lap Late Model feature at Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA, leading all 35 laps in his #87 Cecil B Arthur Beef Farm / PMZ Group / Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rocket.
Arthur and Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, MD went into the night tied for the lead in championship points. It was Long setting fast time gaining three points on Arthur in the point battle, but Long then pulled a four putting Arthur on the pole for the start of the 35 lap feature.
On the drop of the green flag Arthur darted out to the lead followed by Long, Stephen Evans, Brett Carlton and Joey Bounds. Arthur worked his way to a five car length advantage with Long battling Evans for second. Working his way into the top five Tom Cohick battled with Carlton and Scott Adams finally taking fourth on lap 22.
On lap 23 Cohick got inside Evans in turn 2 taking third. Arthur was never seriously challenged on way to his third win of the season.
Trailing Arthur to the checkers were Stevie Long, Tom Cohick, Stephen Evans and Brett Carlton. Carlton was the Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Rookie of the Race with the fifth place finish.
In other action Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA led flag to flag to pick up his fifth win in a thrilling Truckin Thunder Sportsman 25 feature. In the New Generation Racing Sprint Car 25 lap feature Craig Folmar of Phillipsburg, PA took the lead from Tom Humphries of Waynesboro, VA on lap 12 and then cruised to his fourth win of the season. The Limited Stock Car 20 lap feature turned out to be a thriller as Bob Terry of Stafford, VA outlasted Ryan Toole and Kevin Fletcher for his second win of the season.

Competitor gates for Friday, August 22nd will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 7pm with hot laps.
Divisions scheduled to race on Friday August 22nd: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); New Generation Racing Sprint Cars (25 Laps); and the VMS Limited Stocks (20 Laps). All divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features.
Adult admission is just $10, Senior and Military $8, Students 13 -17 yrs old $7, Children 7 - 12 yrs old $4 and Children 6 and under free. The Speedway offers a Family Pack for two adults and two children 12 and under for only $20.
Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track affiliate, is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
