LEBANON, Ore. (August 9) - Randy Boyd followed brother, Bob Boyd, into victory lane Saturday night at Willamette Speedway.

Boyd, from Lebanon, passed John Campos of Keizer for the lead at the half-way point in the 40-lap main event and drove away to his first Outlaw late model A-Main event of the season on the 1/3-mile clay oval.

Campos started the main event on the pole position, but quickly went to the high side of the race track in front of outside polesitting Bruce Hipple of Salem and into the lead. The race was briefly slowed on lap four when Darren Coffell was caught up and spun in turn three, but only the green, white and checkered flags fell from then on.

Randy Boyd, who started the race in fourth, moved into second on lap two and bided his time behind Campos, running an identical high line around the track. Campos moved to the low wide of the track on lap 20, and Boyd quickly went by on the high side. Boyd led the final half of the race for the win.

Russ Sell, starting 12th, made up a huge amount of ground after Boyd and Campos took out and passed Campos for second with two laps to go, and Campos finished a solid third place. Fast timer Jeremy Shank of Salem came forward to place fourth, and trophy dash winning Trevor Glaser of Tangent finished fifth.

Making up the rest of the top 10 were Mike Miller, Rob Mayea, Bob Boyd, Hipple and Gary Smith.

Brett McCutcheon of Sweet Home passed teammate Ryan Gerig with eight laps to go to win the Outlaw B-Main. Gerig placed second with C-Main winning Joey Tanner in third, Rick Hodges in fourth and Todd Sieg in fifth.

Sean Gentry of Dayton pulled off an upset in the modifieds, holding off Mayea, who has dominated the class, for the win. Gentry, starting eighth, passed early leader Lester Free for the lead on the third lap and led the rest of the 25 laps, including holding off a hard charge from Mayea over the final eight laps for the win. Chris Murphy placed third with Kevin Keeney in fourth and Dale Holland in fifth.

Sell took the lead in the Super Sport A-Main event on the fourth lap after starting in 10th and made it look easy in the win. Kye Frick placed second with B-Main winning Rick Wyatt in third, fast timer and trophy dash winning Ron Burchard in fourth and Justin Evans in fifth.

Mike Bennett of Estacada won the Sportsman A-Main event from the 10th starting position with Justin Dittman in second followed by Brad Hopkins, Spencer Warlick and Jordan Wright. Teammates Bill Gibbs and Jeff Marson won the B and C-Mains in the Sportsman.

Bob Kingsberry passed fast timer Erik Jarnport on the eighth lap and went on to the Classic Sportsman main event win. Dave Kingsberry was second with Jarnport in third, Rich Speer in fourth and Curt Fry rounding out the top five.

Willamette Speedway returns to action on Saturday with the Sierra Mist Night at the Races.
