CLEVELAND, Tenn. (August 9) - Scott Morgan made the trip from South Carolina to Cleveland, TN payoff as he bested a strong field of Pony cars to win the Inaugural Stacey McAlister Memorial Pony event. Morgan pocketed $1,200 for his winning effort.

At the drop of the green flag Morgan, who started on the pole, took the lead with David Goode in tow. The front was the place to be, as the caution flag would fly on numerous occasions as the $1,200 first place money was dancing in the driver's heads. With Morgan and Goode showing the way Brian Courtney, Scott Ledford and Tim Ladd battled to determine the next three spots. Ladd would exit to the pits opening the door for Jimmy Elliott to join the top five fray.

As the laps wound down and the field thinned out Courtney would move past Ledford to take possession of third. Ledford would hold on to fourth and Elliott fifth as they crossed the stripe. Rocky McNabb, Kurt Owens, Nick Webb, Kris Poe and Jordan Rodabaugh would round out the top 10.

In Late Model action it was Kevin Gibson taking his second Cleveland feature win of the season. The front row of Gibson and Bobby Mayse fired at the drop of the green with Gibson winning the first lap race to take the lead. Mayse would take the second spot with Randy Burrows third, Jason Welsham fourth and Lamar Scoggins fifth.

The lead five would tour the tricky third mile clay oval with Welsham moving past Burrows for third. Scoggins would take fourth from Burrows just shy of the halfway point. The top five would remain unchanged for the final laps. By virtue of his second at NGa. Speedway the night before Gibson picked up the Late Model high point bonus.

Glenn Seaton III derailed the Rick Hixson Limited/Crate Late Model express when he took the lead on the first lap of the 20-lap feature and went wire to wire to take the win. Hixson, who had won three Cleveland features in a row, finished second and picked up the high point bonus. Brian Pritchard and Chris Beavers waged a constant battle for the third spot with Pritchard taking the spot for good on lap 13. Beavers settled for fourth with Richard Dixon taking fifth.

Nobody in A-Hobby has been able to figure out what to do with Tanner Works. There have been a number of close calls for the Cleveland hot shoe, but he continues to fend off all challengers and win races. Saturday night was no different as Works went flag-to-flag to score his 14th consecutive win. Robbie Greene finished second, David Brown third, Chris Stewart fourth and Tommy Miller fifth.

Patrick Harvey has not been as dominate as Works, but the B-Hobby standout visited victory lane for the 11th time Saturday night. Taking the lead on the fist lap he would hold off first, Shane Nunley and then Colby Shipley for the last 13 laps. When the checkered flew it was Harvey, Shipley, Chad Collins, Nunley and Randy Hysinger the first five across the stripe

Kenny Kizzar continued his winning ways as he held off Dustin Cansler to take his fifth consecutive Front Runner victory. Cansler crossed the line second with James Breland, Brad Cross and Michael Arp rounding out the top five.

This Saturday night the Top Tracks Challenge Series will visit Cleveland Speedway. All divisions, except Limited/Crate Late Models will race.

Racing every Saturday night from March to November Cleveland Speedway is East Tennessee's finest clay oval. The track is located on US Hwy 11 (Lee Highway) just north of the US 64 bypass in Cleveland, Tenn. For more information call the track (423) 479-8574. Or visit www.clevelandspeedway.com/
