CONCORD, N.C. (July 29) - Matt Long and his GazZu Energy Drink Racing Team have found great success over the last several weeks at area tracks. Matt most recently took a second place finish this past Saturday night at Wythe Raceway in Wytheville, Virginia. The event was a Fastrak Southeast Regional Touring event. Matt qualified second quick out of the over thirty cars on hand for the event. Long redrew the pole position but found himself trailing eventual winner Ryan Gifford, who is a Richard Childress Racing development driver, over the entire fifty lap feature.

"We had the by far the best car we have ever had at Wythe. If anything it could have been just a touch tighter but I don't know if we could have had anything for Ryan. Man he was super fast all night. But it I think it says a lot for our GazZu Team to be able to be competitive and run with those guys with the bigger budgets and full time crew guys. We are very happy with how we have run over the last several weeks. We have had a ton of top fives and top tens. Our first win is just around the corner, I can feel it. And our next race at Eldora would be a really cool place to get the first one." said Long.

Long's record over the last few weeks has been very impressive. Since late May the GazZu Energy Drink Race Team has entered thirteen events. They have garnered eight top fives (including seven top threes), eleven top tens and only two DNFs. In the "did not finishes" Long was running in the top ten in both when circumstances beyond his control took him out of the race. At both Volunteer Speedway and Lavonia Speedway, Long's nights came to an end when he got caught up in others wrecks. "That is a part of racing. Sometimes you are going to get caught up in something you had no part of causing." Long commented.

Long and his team have an ambitious schedule ahead of them beginning with the August 8th event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. "Eldora just has so much history and is really the most hallowed ground in dirt racing. So we are excited about taking our car up there and racing. The place is usually so fast and usually really racy too. So it should be a great experience. It will also be a chance for us to introduce the folks up there to GazZu Energy Drinks through our at-the-track sampling program. We are going to load up the trailer because I know we will have a ton of new folks trying GazZu for the first time."
