Casebolt Racing RICHMOND, Ind. (July 29) - After a month of July that saw very few strong finishes for Casebolt Racing, the team took this past weekend off in an effort to regain the level of consistency that they had at the beginning of the season. June proved to go very well for the team as they lead the national point standings for the whole month. On July 3rd, the day before Steve's 30th birthday, team C9 began a slump that has lasted throughout July and relegated Steve to 3rd place in Lucas Oil points. "The points chase isn't over for us yet, there are 13 races left and if we can step it back up there is still a chance to regain the lead and possibly the championship", said Steve. "Going up against guys like Bart Hartman and Earl Pearson nothing is easy, but we are going to give it our best shot."
The team has focused on some of the problems that have bitten them this past month and tried to correct them and move forward. "We have had some problems along the way with being under staffed for as many races as the series is taking us to, so we have had to work a little harder than we would have liked and just got behind a little bit with bad luck and things of that nature." "Our sponsors have came through for us in a big way this season to help us have the equipment we need to win and we just need to capitalize on that", stated Steve.
Steve and team are currently in the process of building a new Rocket Chassis to complete the season with and hope to have the car out for the huge month of August coming up. Steve is still in search of his first win of '08 and hopes to make something big happen at one of his favorite tracks, Florence Speedway, when they have their annual $50,000 to win North/South 100 in August. "Florence is one of my favorite places to race at and we have had a lot of success there in past seasons so a win in their North/South 100 would be huge for us". Steve was leading the main event at Florence a couple of weeks ago and on his way to a win, when another competitor drove into the back of his car and wrecked him in the middle of the back straight away, effectively knocking him out of the race and ending his night.
Steve's next races will be at Bedford Speedway (Pennsylvania), Hagerstown Speedway (Maryland) and Winchester Speedway (Virginia) next weekend. Steve has had luck in the past at Hagerstown where he has 4 top ten finishes to his credit and also at Winchester Speedway where he won last year's $10,000 to win Winchester 200.
The plans for this weekend are bit uncertain. Be sure to check the team website later in the week for the most current schedule. For more information on Steve Casebolt and his race team be sure to check out their website at www.stevecasebolt.com.
