CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (July 24) - Ten events are on tap for Week 18 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in both the East and West Regions. The East Region will host six events this Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and the West Region will have four races on the schedule this Friday and Saturday nights.

Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN will open a Hoosier State double-header for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region on Thursday night. Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, IN will host an East Region Double Points race on Saturday night.

Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will be in action on Friday night for NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region competition, with East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL hosting East Region events on Saturday night.

Fort Payne Motor Speedway has announced that it will be hosting three Double Points event in the coming weeks on August 2, August 9, and August 16.

Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will open the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition on Friday night, and on Saturday night, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA, and Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will present West Region events.

The point battles in both the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East and West Regions are beginning to tighten up as drivers reach the 16 race mark. A driver's best 16 finishes count as their Regional point total, plus up to 40 bonus points for participating in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event which pays 10 points at each event.

Beginning with a driver's 17th start, a higher point total earned for that race will replace the lowest point total earned at a previous event. Complete NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series results and the updated points after Week 18 will be posted on Monday.

The NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Regional Champions will receive $3,000, a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new chassis. The NeSmith Chevrolet WRS season will run through October 12.
