FLIPPIN, Ark. (July 24) - The first half of the season has been full of bad breaks and hard luck for Dusty Johnston and the PJ Motorsports team. However, this weekend, Dusty will be looking to get things back on track as he enters two events in the state of Missouri with his #16 GRT By Frye/Kuntz & Co. Super Late Model.
Last weekend, Dusty was in action both Friday and Saturday night in a pair of MSRA/DLRA Super Late Model Challenge events at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. On Friday night, PJ Motorsports would once again battle a broken fuel pump, which would end their night early. On Saturday night, Johnston started deep in a heat race and was unable to advance any positions. As a result he started 9th in his consolation, event and advanced to a 4th place finish. However, only the top two cars transferred so his night came to an end.
"At some point our luck has to change. We've got all of the pieces in place, we just need to get things to click," commented Johnston.
This weekend, Johnston will travel to Missouri for two events on Saturday and Sunday night. On Saturday, the action gets underway at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri with a $3,000 to win/$500 to start event that is sanctioned by the O'Reilly MARS and Allstate DLRA Super Late Model Series. On Sunday night, the team tentatively plans to travel to Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri for a $2,000 to win/$450 to start program that will be sanctioned by the O'Reilly MSRA and Allstate DLRA Super Late Model Series. Johnston has enjoyed considerable success at Monett Speedway in the past, and hopes to bank off of his experience this weekend.
