Delph Communications ZANESVILLE, Ohio (July 22) - Bart Hartman reached victory lane for the first time in 2008 in thrilling fashion last Saturday night, July 19 at the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri! The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the $10,000 to win 'CMH Showdown,' which attracted a healthy field of cars and a huge crowd to the Show-Me State venue. Bart qualified well in PRC Time Trials and later won his competitive heat race over Terry Casey, Wayne Chinn, and Freddy Smith. After drawing the number one pill prior to the 50-lap main event, the Zanesville, Ohio driver led the star-studded field to the green flag.
Bart lost the initial start of the race to outside polesitter Dan Schlieper, but quickly regained the top spot on lap ten. The popular driver known as the "Bartman" then kept his immaculate #75 entry in front of the field over the next twenty-five circuits before Earl Pearson, Jr. made a bid for the lead on lap thirty-six. Not deterred, Bart rode the extreme outside groove of the 3/8-mile speedplant and retook the point from Pearson on the fortieth lap. He then stretched out his lead over the waning laps to record the thrilling $10,000 triumph over Earl Pearson, Jr., Brian Birkhofer, Terry Phillips, and Terry Casey.
Earlier in the weekend, the #75 team was in action at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on Friday evening for another $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series show. In front of the SPEED Channel cameras, Bart ran second in his heat race to earn the outside fourth row starting spot in the 50-lap main event. He was steady throughout the 'Budweiser 50' en route to a ninth place performance. By virtue of the strong weekend, Bart jumped up to the second spot in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings! "We have had a lot of good runs this year with the Lucas Oil Series, but for one reason or another, we had not found victory lane until Saturday night," quoted Hartman earlier today. "Finally, we put everything together and capitalized with a big win at the Lucas Oil Speedway. Austin (Hargrove) worked hard all weekend and gave me an awesome racecar. Some of those guys ran really well around the bottom of the racetrack, but my car was super good up top. It feels great to get back into victory lane and especially at the Lucas Oil Speedway. The fans out there were great and hopefully we put on an awesome show for them!"
