SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (July 12) - A cool day for June (wait it is July isn't it) was in store for the fans and drivers who headed out to Deer Creek Speedway on this Saturday. With this being night three of racing in eight days a very nice crowd and a good field of cars took to the speedway on Clement's Auto night along with Associate sponsors L & D Ag of Heartland and Rent and Save of Austin.
"Lightning" Joe Ludemann started on the outside of the front row for the twenty five lap Valley Featherlite WISSOTA Late Model feature event. Ludemann and Dustin Reeh raced side by side for lap one with Ludemann taking the lead. Nick Kramer and Dennis Hillson were side by side for second as Ludemann opened up an early lead. The battle for second stayed close until Nick Herrick moved into the fray. With Herrick now in second and Keith Foss working into third with nineteen to go you imagined it was only a matter of time before one of those two caught the leader. As the track turned black from t op to bottom Foss ran low and Herrick high as they raced side by side until five laps left. Ludemann came home with the win by ten car lengths for his first ever feature win. Ludemann ahs looked really strong this season after purchasing this car from Mark Teske. Herrick came home second with Foss in third. Nick Kramer and Dennis Hillson rounded out the top five with their best runs of the season.
Racing action resumes next Saturday with the Slingshots racing on Button Buck Speedway at 3:00. At 6:00 the 410 IRA Sprint cars will be hand along with the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and the USRA Modifieds.
