The UMP Summernationals tour rolled into the St. Louis area venue and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. The driver known as the "Batesville Bullet" got up on the wheel during the feature and moved his #88 GRT entry past five competitors en route to a strong fourth place performance behind winner Billy Moyer, Dennis Erb, and Wes Steidinger.
