Chuck Griffith LAKEVILLE, Ohio (July 5) - Clint Coffman put his Fererated Auto Parts,Coffman Corvette 2C Late Model in the winners circle for the third time this year as he raced from the pole starting spot in the twenty five lap main event.Early in the action John Reasor and Ryan Eddleblute along with Eric Eicholtz was in behind the leader Coffman.Jason Flory was coming from his fifth starting spot and on lap four had moved into second spot.Two quick cautions slowed the field and as the green was shown again,Coffman was able to stay at the point with Flory glued to the back bumper of the leader.Rick Bond had won heat three earlier ,however drew a ninth starting spot and on the two restarts was working his way around Reasor and Ty Myers to be scored in the third spot.J.R.Gentry took the green at the start from back in the eleventh position and went to the high side of the track and moved into fifth spot on lap fifteen after racing side by side with Mike Lonas.As the laps ticked off,Flory made several attempts of taking the lead,however Coffman refused to relinquish the top spot and got the win.Following Coffman to the finish line was Flory,Bond,Reasor with Gentry completing the top five.Heat wins went to Ryan Eddleblute,Ty Myers and Bond.
Another milestone was seen at The New Lakeville Speedway on Saturday night.Weather had made it impossible for the running of the first leg of the Triple Crown for the Pepsi Winged Sprints on Friday night and the program was moved up to Saturday.The milestone mentioned earlier was that a father/son starting front row for the thirty lap A main.Cody Jacobs had won his heat race and had redrawn the outside front row position with his father Dean Jacobs on the pole.Cody wasted no time in diving into the fist turn in the lead with Dean in tow.Points leader Nick Mulheim was working hard to get around Jeremy Aumend and Bill Underwood who had started in the second row.Kurt Jefferies had got caught up in a heat race accident with Tim Hunter earlier in the evening and had to start the event back in the tenth spot.Jason Dolick took the green flag from the fifteenth spot and was also dicing his way forward.Cody was seen using up as much race track as possible as his dad was showing no mercy on the young shoe.Dean tried on several occassions to go to the top and the bottom to reel in his son and could not get it done as Cody collected his first feature win and moved up another spot in the yearly points battle.At the finish it was Cody Jacobs in his ARE,Paullin Motorsports sponsored 27A sprinter getting the win followed by Dean Jacobs,Mulheim,Jefferiesand Dolick
After finishing in the runner up spot on three previous races this year,Don Baney Jr.reached the winners circle in his Wharton Excavating,Quality Fiberglass,National City sponsored Pure Stock in the Hamlin Racing Engines A Main.He started on the pole position with Dave Haven Sr on the outside of the front row.The second row saw points leader Sean Cain and Jeremy Dickerson side by side.In the first couple of circuits,Dickerson was glued to Baney's rear bumper with Haven Sr and Cain close behind.After a lap five caution Paul McVicker went to the top of the track and had mounted his charge to the front from starting seventh and at the same time Bob Daugherty from his eighth starting spot was on the move.By mid race Cain had moved to second and was putting a lot of pressure on Baney for the lead as Roger Drouhard was in the mix as well from starting fifth.By lap ten,lap traffic came into play,however the leaders worked that to thier advantage as Baney was able to hold off the numerous challenges from Cain and sailed into the winners circle for his first win of the year.Cain finished a strong second with McVicker third,Drouhard in fourth and Daugherty finishing fifth.Haven Sr and Drouhard won the two heat races.
Dale Beckett added another feature win to his career at Lakeville Speedway as the multi time track champion raced from his third starting spot in the Hague Crystal Clear Water Mini Stock feature.At the sight of the green,Roger Rush Sr darted out to the lead with Beckett and Jordan James in the chase.A early race yellow realinged the field in single file and on the restart James moved up on the outside of Rush Sr and went door to door for two laps before James took the position.Another caution came out on lap six for debris on the track and when the green replaced the yellow,Dustin Cyrus made his charge on the bottom side of the track from starting tenth along with sixth place starter Brad Hensel.Beckett was able to stay out front with the win in his Holmes Tire,Beckett Auto Sales entry.The next four spots showed James in second,Rush Sr in third,Cyrus fourth and Brad Hensel in fifth.Heat wins went to Justin Brown and Jordan james. Dustin Daugherty won the heat and got his second feature win of the year in his Jim's Auto Repair sponsored ride in the Rod Eddleblute Garage Novice Mini Stocks.Brad Lawhorn put a lot of pressure on the winner for just about the entire race,but could not pass the leader.Tim Rush got a third place finish with Casey Butler finishing fourth and Tyler McClure getting fifth.
