Ben Shelton BYRAM, Miss. (July 5) - "The Cat Daddy" Clint Smith made a surprise visit to Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi on Saturday night, and it paid off in a big way as he claimed the $2,500 top prize in the Extreme Wireless Super Late Model event.
The evening's Extreme Wireless Super Late Model event was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series and feature a 50 lap main event. Twenty-Nine Super Late Models signed in to do battle with David Breazeale setting quick time around the ¼ mile oval. Breazeale would win the pole sitters dash, and earn the pole position for the feature event. Clint Smith would start to his outside with Breazeale snagging the lead at the drop of the green flag. Breazeale would lead for three laps before rolling to a stop with a broken left front shock bolt. He would head pitside and rejoin the back of the pack. Smith inherited the lead and never looked back en route to the win. Behind Smith, things would not be as easy as several drivers battled for the top five spots. At the finish line Jimmy Cliburn, David Ashley, Scott Slay, and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five.
In the Franklin Paving UMP Open Wheel Modified division Ryan Allday picked up another feature win with Al Thomas, Ben Stephens, Billy Collett, and Toby Hodge rounding out the top five.
The Trick Race & Hawkins Machine Shop Street Stock division saw Greg Lockhart take the top spot as David Nations and Edmond Jenkins claimed the podium spots.
Cliff Williams picked up another win in the Home Improvement Company Limited Late Model division. Mike Boland, Rick Rawson, Jarrette Gunn, and Kevin Whittington rounded out the top five finishers at the checkered flag.
Tim Sullivan won the Paul's Body Shop/HP Graphics Mini Stock feature over Ricky Patterson and Jessie Bishop.
The Touch of Class Body Shop Stingers division saw Caleb Langford outrun Iris Williamson and Daniel Sistrunk to the checkered flag.
