FORT PAYNE, Ala. (July 3) - Blake Stewart of Centre, AL upheld his "home turf" on Thursday night at Fort Payne Motor Speedway by earning the pole position for Friday night's $5,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auction 75 Presented By South 107 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.

Stewart set fast time, and won the first 15-lap Dominator Race Products Heat Race on Thursday night to earn the pole position for Friday night's big show driving the Parodi & Welch GRT. Stewart set a new track record at his home track during time trials among the 40 entrants with a time around the 3/8-mile clay oval in 14.618 seconds.

Stewart is a regular competitor on Friday nights at Fort Payne Motor Speedway in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, and is currently second in the East Region point standings.

Frank Ingram of Woodstock, GA won the second 15-lap Dominator Race Products Heat Race on Thursday night, and will start his Dixon Hauling and Grading Rocket from the outside of the front row for the Friday night main event.

NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National point leader Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA won the third 15-lap Dominator Race Products Heat Race in the CSC Trailer Repair/Brindle Brothers Auto Parts GRT, and starts the feature race on Friday night from the inside of the second row. Chase Washington of Houlka, MS drove the Jerry Inmon Race Cars GRT to the fourth heat win and the outside second row starting spot for the big show.

The top four finishers in each of the four 15-lap Dominator Race Products Heat Races transferred into the top 16 starting positions for the Red Top Auto Auction 75 Presented By South 107 on Friday night.

Tom Maddox of Center, AL in the Cherokee Timber Barry Wright, Chris Tays of Corinth, MS in the Bud Coley Trucking/Circle H Concrete Trak-Star, and the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Jason Wilson of Margaret, AL joined Stewart in transferring out of the first heat.

Following Ingram in the second heat were Larry Boutwell of Baker, FL in the McLeod Construction TNT, Curtis Cline of Douglasville, GA in the Flood Brothers Warrior, and Kenny Hall of Geraldine, AL in the Equipment Installation Sales Warrior.

Joining Brindle out of the third heat into the main event were Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS in the Tiffin Motorhomes Mastersbilt, Jordy Nipper of Gray, GA in the Scotty's Muffler Rocket, and Brandon Overton of Appling, GA in the Dorsey Trucking GRT.

Coming out of the fourth heat along with Washington were Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA in the Hays Family Racing/Barto Enterprises Warrior, Hunter Peacock of Macon, GA in the Nasworthy Mechanical Bullitt, and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN in the Miller Brothers Coal Warrior.

Starting positions 17 through 22 for the Red Top Auto Auctions 75 Presented By South 107 will be determined on Friday night through two 15-lap B-Main races where the top three finishers in each race will transfer to the big show. Starting positions 23 and 24 are NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Provisional spots reserved for the top 15 in points that fail to qualify for the main event through the preliminary races.

Among the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Top 15 point drivers still on the outside looking in are fourth-place and Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year point leader Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL, seventh-place Ted Lackey of Munford, AL, ninth-place Jason Hiett of Lincoln, AL, and tenth-place Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA.
