Ben Shelton BATESVILLE, Ark. (July 2) - Over the past week, Billy Moyer Jr. and Jr. Motorsports have been quite busy as they criss-crossed the Midwest and Southeast at various events with his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Runion Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Billy raced at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, June 27th. He once again drew a large number at the pill draw, but was able to charge from an 8th starting position to a 3rd place finish. Via his 3rd place finish in the heat race, he earned a 5th starting position for the feature. Moyer Jr. would maintain the spot throughout the event, and record a 5th place finish at the checkered flag. Saturday night's event at I-30 Speedway was rained out.
On Wednesday, June 25th, he followed the UMP Summernational tour to Lake Ozark Speedway in Lake Ozark, Missouri. His night would get off to a rough start as one of the j-bar mounts broke on the car in hot laps forcing him to miss his heat race and start at the back of a b-main. Moyer Jr., would fall just short of the transfer.
On Tuesday, June 24th, Billy was in action at Sedalia State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri with the UMP Summernationals. It was his first time on a large flat track, and Billy battled the setup all night, and once again fell just short of transferring from the b-main into the feature.
On Sunday, June 22nd Billy was in action at Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri in a $2,000 to win DLRA Late Model Series event. Jr. finished second in his heat race and recorded a strong fourth place finish in the feature event.
On Saturday, June 21st, the week of insanity got underway at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri for the O'Reilly Late Model Challenge on Saturday night. Billy was one of sixty-five Super Late Models signed in for the event. Once again, he drew a large number at the pill draw, and was forced to start in the 10th position in one of the six heat races. Billy would manage a 7th place finish in his heat race, which earned him an 8th starting position in his b-main event. He advanced to a 5th place finish in his consolation event, but only the top two cars transferred to the feature event.
This weekend Jr. Motorsports will enter a pair of events in the deep south. On Friday night, the team will travel to Champion Park Speedway in Minden, Louisiana in an event sanctioned by the O'Reilly S.U.P.R. Super Late Model tour. This will mark Billy's first visit to the facility. For more information, please visit www.SUPRRacing.com .
