Jason Shank YORK HAVEN, Penn. (July 2) - Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and the Back-to-Back (2006/2007) Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert enjoyed a solid top ten run with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Wednesday, June 25th at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA followed by a long and wet weekend at Lernerville Speedway as the 2nd Annual 'Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com' was postponed due to rain.
Jaynelle Covert, Jason's wife, was lucky enough to pull Covert's pill at Big Diamond Raceway and just like everyone else who pull's Jason's pill, drew a high number sending him out last out of the 34 cars that took time. Covert stopped the clock with the ninth quickest time lining him up in the third starting spot in heat where we would finish second and putting him the redraw for the A-Main event. Jason pulled a '3' in the redraw to put him on the inside of the second row. Covert finished the $7,000 to win 40-lapper in eighth and was rewarded with the WoO Late Model Series 'Bonus Bucks' award of $500 for being the highest finishing non-regular on the WoO Tour.
Jason took his Barry Klinedinst Motorsports owned, Pre-Mach, Inc. / Red Wing Shoes / Hershey's Racing Engines / Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo to Lernerville Speedway for the WoO sanctioned 'Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com' on Friday, Saturday and what turned into Sunday as well. Covert set eighth quickest time out of the 62 cars entered and started on the outside of the front row in his heat. Unfortunately suspension problems knocked out the defending MACS champion early in the race sending him to the C-Main. The C-Main never got to see the speedway though as mother-nature kept all competitors off the racetrack for the remainder of the weekend. The BK Motorsports team will have to wait until the rescheduled date of Tuesday, July 29th to cap off the $40,000 to win event.
Covert and the BK Motorsports team will return to action this upcoming Thursday at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH for the $10,000 to win 'Crenos 50' sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Then the team will head south for Independence Day for two separate shows in two nights at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH. Both the, 'Weaver Gas & Oil Independence Day 50' and the 'Pepsi 75' will be sanctioned by the MACS and will pay $5,000 and $10,000 respectively to the winners.
