TAZEWELL, Tenn. (June 30) - Tazewell Speedway is proud to welcome the return of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Friday, July 4. The Toyota of Knoxville 75 will pay $10,000 to the winner of this one-night event. Tazewell Speedway is one of the few tracks that has hosted the series since it started four years ago. It is becoming one of the most popular stops on the tour.
Some of the best drivers from the country and East Tennessee will battle on the ultra-fast 1/3-mile, high-banked Tazewell Speedway. Defending series champion Earl Pearson Jr, current series leader Steve Casebolt, Scott James, Dan Schlieper, Bart Hartman, and Freddy Smith will take on local favorites Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Owens, Vic Hill, Anthony White, Rick Rogers, Billy Ogle Jr, and more.
American Race Tires South is putting up a $500 bonus for any Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series driver that can break the track record of 11.103 seconds on American Race Tires. If more than one driver breaks the track record, the driver with the fastest time will get the $500 bonus.
Once again, Toyota of Knoxville is sponsoring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Tazewell Speedway. Owner Doug White is a long-time race fan that came to Tazewell Speedway for the first time several years ago and wanted to be a part of this event.
"We've been trying to find something for our associates to have something fun to do," Smith said. It's becoming one of our top events we do. We'll have many of our employees there and we'll have some displays for the fans along with prizes to be given away. This is the most exciting event we are a part of each year."
Also in action on July 4 will be the West Chevrolet FASTRAK crates, modified streets, pure streets, and a special $500 to win front wheel drive race (details are on track's web site).
Pit gates will open at 2:00 and grandstand gates will open at 5:00. Grandstand tickets are $25 for adults, kids 12 and under are FREE. Pit passes are $35.
Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto Bacchus Rd, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the race track is located on the left.
