PHENIX CITY, Ala. (June 21) - Fastrak National Champion William Thomas ran his hometown track of East Alabama Motor Speedway for the second race in a row and had the same outstanding results- a dominating victory. Thomas drove the Ben Thomas Racing Scorpion house car and once again set the fast time in qualifying, a super fast 15.37 to win the Extreme Power Sports $100 award and the pole for the feature. When the green dropped on the main event, the Phenix City Assassin Terrance Nowell was on the outside pole, locked and loaded. Thomas won the sprint to turn one and came out of turn two with the lead from the cushion. The Assassin had Thomas in his cross hairs but Thomas took the counter measures to avoid a hit and began gaining ground when Larry Eldridge and Kelly Leonard spun over the top of turn one to bring out the lap two caution. On the restart the Assassin pulled door to door with Thomas from the inside but again Thomas hit his warp drive and began pulling away. Matt Woodson was struggling with his set up as Leonard and Chase Edge passed him moving into 11th. On lap 8 Thomas was lapping the field taking down Marty Beckwith, Bert Tompkins, and Richard Mills. On lap 10 Thomas was really on a roll as he lapped Pat Wall, Larry Eldridge, Josh Noles, Charlie Gushue, and Matt Woodson. By lap 13 Thomas was half a straight ahead of the Assassin who was about the same distance ahead of Richie Stephens, the Rocketman, running third. When Thomas lapped Edge and Leonard, Noles spun in turn two for the lap 17 caution. The restart order was Thomas, the Assassin, the Rocketman, the legendary #K9 of Dana Eiland, current Late Model Champion Larry Harrod, rookie Montana Dudley, Slick Rick Culpepper, Marvelous Marvin Cook, and Marc Gooden. On this restart as Thomas distanced himself from the pack there was excitement all over the place as Harrod and Eiland sparred over fourth while Cook and Culpepper battled over seventh. Thomas was now over a straightaway ahead of the Assassin and the fat lady was singing as the white flag flew. It was Deja-Vu all over again as Thomas took the checkers for the second race in a row. Terrance Nowell finished second, Richie Stephens third, Dana Eiland fourth, Larry Harrod fifth, Montana Dudley sixth, Ricky Culpepper seventh, Marvin Cook eighth, Marc Gooden ninth, and Kelly Leonard rounded out the top ten in tenth.

In the Bomber Division Christy Noles started from the pole. On lap 3 she hit a wet spot in turn two and spun out bringing out the yellow flag and relegating herself to the rear for the restart. John Dozier took over the lead and held on to take the checkers. Shelby Amos finished second, Trevor Elliot third, Jeff Elliot fourth, and Chris Story finished fifth.

In the Hobby Division a final hour bump and run caused some controversy. On the white flag lap John Michael came out of turn four on the high side and Allen McConnell passed him. Michael ran into the back of McConnell then moved into the lead and took the checkers. Both parties had opposing views as to the legitimacy of the act but the official finish was John Michael first, Allen McConnell second, Robert Jackson third, Jeremy Nevels fourth and Jason Anthony fifth.

Randy Hester won the Limited Sportsman division. Steven Gaines JR finished second, Russ Ogletree third, Brand Lewis fouth, and Thomas Lewis finished fifth.
