JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (June 20) - With scattered rain showers threatening around the area, defending SkyTower Race Engines Sportsman track champion Rick King of Junction City, KY grabbed the $500 to win special for the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman division on Friday at Ponderosa Speedway. Other feature winners included Dustin Linville of Lancaster, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Gary Yeager of Harrodsburg, KY in Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, and Benji Lee of Raywick, KY in Hardee's Modifieds.

The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature would go green to checkered with no cautions. Dustin Linville would take the race lead at the drop of the green flag, followed by Joey Daniel, Bobby Wolter, Jr., Aaron Hatton, and Jeff Watson. Wolter, Jr. would take second on lap 2, with Hatton going to third, after a three-wide battle for second. Watson would drive past Daniel for the four spot on lap 4, while Linville pulled away from the field at this point. Royce McGowan make his way into the top five past Daniel on lap 9, while Wolter, Jr. slowly crept upon race leader Linville as the leaders entered slower traffic. Linville and Wolter, Jr. would expertly work traffic, with Linville continuing to keep Wolter, Jr. at bay, while McGowan would go to fourth and Michael Chilton would be fifth after fourth place running Watson would pull in with a broken rear-end on his machine. The final five laps would see Chilton and Daniel trade back and forth for the fifth spot, before Daniel nailed it down on lap 23. Up front, Linville would grab his second win of the season at Ponderosa Speedway in the Bruce Barnes owned, Barnes Family Dentistry/Linville's Finish Carpentry/Paul Benton Auto Body/Lester Grider Trucking/BG Oil/Cookie Monster Power Plants/Budda Bert Transmissions/American Stave Company/Heritage Closing Agency/DJ Safety/American Racer Tires/Skillsaw Designs sponsored #D8 C.J. Rayburn Race Cars, Jay Dickens Race Engines powered machine. The remainder of the top five would be Wolter, Jr., Hatton, McGowan, and Daniel. Completing the top ten were Chilton, Bobby Carrier, Jr., Sidney Sprague, Anthony Ferguson, and Chris Ruble. Daniel was the Wayne Bowen Racing Supply top qualifier at 13.710 seconds among twelve entries, with Linville winning the dash, while McGowan scored the heat victory. Chilton would earn the Valvoline Six Pack Hard Charger of the race award.

Gerald Haynes, Jr. would take the initial lead at the start of the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman feature event and would hold the lead for the first five laps until a flat right rear tire would sideline him for the evening. Troy Scott would inherit the race lead and hold the top spot until lap 8, when Rick King would take the lead and hold on the rest of the way to pick up the $500 special in his The Muffler Shop/3D Trucking/G-Funk Chassis/Brute Force Motors/The Brake Shop/Stanford Glass/Integrity Metals/Big Daddy's Hobby Shop/Death Valley Kennels/Wayne Bowen Racing Supply sponsored #13D Chevy Monte Carlo. Logan Whitis would take runner-up honors, with Troy Scott claiming third place. Grady Moore, Jr. would finish fourth, with Joe Walker rounding out the top five. Haynes was the Wayne Bowen Racing Supply top qualifier among twelve entries at 16.190 seconds and also won the dash, while Moore, Jr. was the heat race winner. Walker would be the Valvoline Six-Pack Hard Charger winner for this feature event.

Gary Yeager would take the lead in the early going and never look back in grabbing his first win of the season in the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Model division aboard his Yeager Insulation/Superior Drywall/Perry's Auto Sales sponsored #28 Rocket Chassis machine. Victor Lee would sub in the Todd Coffman owned machine for the evening and would challenge Yeager throughout the later stages of the race, but could not get the job done and would settle for runner-up honors. Clarence Belcher, Tommy Carlton, and Dylan Preston would complete the top five. Carlton turned in a time of 14.616 seconds to claim the Wayne Bowen Racing Supply top qualifier award among the six entries in the division, with Yeager also winning the heat. Lee would score the Valvoline Six-Pack Hard Charger of the race award.

The Hardee's Modified main event would see the starting front row of Benji Lee and Jason Wheatley and basically race side-by-side for the top spot for the first eight circuits of the 20 lap open-wheel main event, before Lee would finally gain control of the top spot on lap 9 and pull away over the remaining eleven trips to claim his second straight Hardee's Modified feature event win aboard his Thompson Heat and Air/B&B Motorsports/Springfield Auto and Farm/Smart Shoppers/Kirker Automotive Finishes/St. Joe Garage/Brian Ballard Motorsports sponsored #03 Bandit Race Cars, Dale Meers Race Engines powered unit. Wheatley would hold on for second, with Kelly Warren closing on Wheatley at the finish to claim third. Tim York and Dion Benningfield would complete the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Randy Turpin, Rocky Wilson, Kevin Nesselhauf, Todd Noel, and Ricky Lane. Wheatley was the Wayne Bowen Racing Supply top qualifier at 15.046 seconds, while Benji Lee won the dash, with Nesselhauf scoring the heat victory. Todd Noel was the Valvoline Six-Pack Hard Charger award winner in this feature event.
