Bob Appleget CHATSWORTH, Ga. (June 10) - The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series will be at North Georgia Speedway this Friday night for the Harris Sutton Chevrolet 50. It will be the second time the national Late Model touring series has visited the banked third mile clay oval.
"When the Lucas Series comes to North Georgia Speedway it gives the fans a chance to see some of the best drivers in the country race against their local heroes," said NGa. promoter Monty Morrow.
Friday night's main event will pay $10,000 to win and Car Smart Used Cars of Cleveland has posted a $2,500 challenge to the front row starters. If the pole sitter opts to start tenth he can pick up the Car Smart bonus if he wins the event. If he declines to take the challenge it will be offered to the outside front row starter.
Three time series champion and current points leader Earl Pearson Jr. will lead the travelers that will include Steve Casebolt, Bart Hartman, Justin Ratliff, Scott James and a host of others. You can also expect the best drivers in the area to compete as well as the North Georgia regulars led by point leader Gary McPherson.
"Being right in the middle of a three races in three nights for the series plus the possibility of one driver taking home $12,500 here at NGa. will bring out the cars," continued Morrow. "We expect to see the best drivers from East Tennessee, North Georgia and North Carolina and when you add the Lucas Series regulars the pits will be full."
Also on the card will be the Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Hobby and Econo Bombers.
Pits will open at 1pm on Friday June 13, grandstands open at 5 pm with racing at 7:30 pm. Adults grandstand tickets are $20 with kids 6-11 $3 under six are free. Pit passes are $35.
