Dennis Anton EASTABOGA, Ala. (June 9) - The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series will make its second appearance ever at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL this Saturday Night June 14th. The race will be highlighted by a fifty-lap feature event paying $10,000 to win.
The race will be a nationally televised event in front of the Speed Channel cameras.
The only ever appearance of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at TST, saw Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN take the $10,000 prize back home in dominating fashion.
Owens is set to come back and defend his win, but will have some stought competition.
Earl Pearson Jr. from Jacksonville, FL currently sits atop the Lucas Oil point standings heading into the weekends races.
Steve Casebolt, the 2007 "Dream" winner sits in second spot, and the Richmond, Indiana driver will be looking at claming his first ever victory at TST.
Bart Hartman currently sits in the third spot with Justin Ratliff fourth and the "Silvershark" Scott James sits in fifth.
Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN will be rolling into TST fresh off of the $100,000 to win Dream race at Tony Stewarts Eldora Speedway last weekend.
Add to the mixture the local talent from TST every week along with the Lucas drivers and other drivers from throughout the country and this should be one of the best races ever at Talladega Short Track.
Activities start Saturday Night with pit gates opening at 12 Noon and grandstands opening at 3PM.
A special autograph session is scheduled from 4:15 - 4:45 in the grandstand area.
Hot laps will then begin at 5:30PM and racing at 7PM.
