LEBANON, Ore. (June 7) - Trevor Glaser was patient until the end. The late model driver out of Tangent made his way to second on the 15th of 40 laps Saturday night, then followed leading Bob Boyd of Albany around the 1/3-mile oval that is Willamette Speedway for 24 circuits.

On the last turn of the last lap, Glaser went low under Boyd to win his second Outlaw Late Model A-Main event of the season in the Strawberry Cup.

Starting in fourth place, Boyd took the lead by the end of the first lap. A few laps later had checked out on the rest of the leaders and by lap 11 was coming up on lapped traffic.

Glaser, starting fifth, worked his way up to third by the 13th lap and got around Brett McCutcheon for second three laps later.

When the caution fell on lap 18 for Greg Brooks' stalled car, Boyd's lead disappeared. On the restart, Glaser easily got around the three lapped cars that separated him and Boyd, but couldn't make a move on the leader.

Glaser patiently followed Boyd as they worked their way back into lapped traffic and seemed content to place second until he saw the white flag and made his move.

Coming into turn three, Glaser went low under Boyd and cleared the past track champion by the time the two exited turn four.

Boyd finished second with 16th starting Rob Mayea of Bend making a valiant charge through the field to finish third. Salem driver Rick Wyatt went from the 14th starting spot to fourth place at the finish and 18th starting and B-Main winning John Duty of Portland finished fifth.

Rounding out the top ten were Russ Sell of Brownsville, Craig Hanson of Albany, Randy Boyd of Lebanon, Darren Coffell of Bend and Tory Swayngim of Sodaville.

Duty made a pair of charges through the field to win the B-Main.

Starting 16th of 16 cars, Duty made his way to second by the 18th lap and was challenging leading and polesitting Darvin Tramel of Aurora.

But on the lap 18 restart, the cars of Duty and Tramel got together coming to the green flag and both spun.

Both were sent to the back of the pack, but it took Duty only until the 26th lap to get to second and he passed leading Jimmy Schram of Vancouver, Wash., for the lead on the 27th lap and went on to the win.

Schram finished second with Joey Tanner of Portland finishing third, Ryan Gerig in fourth and Rob Campos of Redmond in fifth.

Sell was again the man to beat in the Super Sports as the cagey veteran went from the 12th starting spot to second by the 14th lap.

One lap later, though, he went under Randy Barley down the backstretch for the lead and was ahead going into turn three, but Barley hit Sell, spinning both.

Sell was given the lead back and checked out for the win. Ron Burchard finished second with Dallas driver Ron Shinkle making his way under Dan Kingsberry for third on the last lap. Anthony Hopper finished fifth. James Slover wont he Super Sport B-Main.

Mayea continued his dominance of the modified class.

Mayea set fast time and started in 13th by the eighth lap. He passed leading Hanson on the low side of turn four coming to the 12th lap and went on to the win. Hanson finished second with Chris Murphy in third, Kelly Williamson in fourth and Jonathon Lewis in fifth.

Jason Sommer passed leading Mike Bennett of Estacada with 10 laps to go and went on to win the A-Main event for the Sportsmen. Bennett finished second with David Cronk of Portland in third followed by Scott Parks and Brad Hopkins.

Jeff Birkholz passed polesitting "Tubby" Thomas on the fifth lap and led the rest of the 20 laps for the Sportsman B-Main win. Thomas drove error free the rest of the way to finish second with Tom Conway close behind. Duddles won the Sportsman C-Main.

Bob Kingsberry won the Classic Sportsman A-Main with Carlos Carapinha in second and Dave Kingsberry in third.

Action returns to Willamette Speedway June 14 with all the regular classes except the modifieds.
