WARENSBURG, Mo. (June 5) - Defending Advantage Metals Recycling LLC, United Late Model Association (ULMA) Rookie of the Year Brett Wood of Warrensburg, Missouri, knocked down the door to victory lane in only his second full year as a late model driver last Friday night at LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri.  After finishing second in his qualifying heat race behind last week's LA winner, James Rutledge of California, Wood took his GRT by Bodee's #7 to victory lane in the main event from his second row inside starting position ahead of fellow second-row starter Bryon Allison of Marshall who went on to finish second at the line.  Another Marshall competitor, Chad Clark raced his way up to third place from his eighth-starting position.   Rutledge finished fourth, one spot ahead of Jason Bodenhamer as the two continue their season-long battle for the top of the ULMA standings.  Jake Williams of Lockwood, Missouri had a strong finish in sixth with defending ULMA champion Brett Rollert of Smithville making a rare appearance this year in the seventh spot.  Tommy Cordray of Browning, Allen Perryman of Belton and Jamie Wineland of Lohman rounded out the top 10 at LA Raceway.  Fifteen racers competed at LA Raceway last weekend.  Racing action continues at the LA Raceway in all divisions this Friday, June 6th.  Log on to www.laraceway.com for more information.  Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri cancelled their race program for the night last week due to wet weather.

Unfortunately, Callaway Raceway is no longer affiliated with ULMA for the remainder of the season as an association points-earning track.  ULMA would like to let all drivers and members know that this circumstance is effective June 3, 2008.  Callaway Raceway deviated from association rules and regulations, which led to ULMA withdrawing its affiliation with the track.  The association thanks Callaway Raceway for their collaboration over the last season and a quarter and wishes the Raceway all the best for the remainder of the season and future.  Drivers who participated in last Friday's rain-out race will earn points this Friday for the make-up feature; however, after this weekend no further ULMA points may be earned at Callaway Raceway.

A late-evening unexpected thunderstorm tried to spoil the fun at Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) last Saturday night, but the CMS program went on as scheduled on a beautifully prepared, multi-grooved race surface.  Race winner Jon Binning said in victory lane, "The track was perfect for my car."  Binning, who won a qualifying heat race earlier in the night, jumped out to an early lead grabbed his second CMS and ULMA victories of the year ahead of Jason Bodenhamer, who previously won three CMS features in a row.  James Rutledge made the haul over to CMS and finished one spot behind Bodenhamer in third after earning the victory in the other qualifying heat race earlier in the night.  Brett Wood followed up his Friday-night win with a strong fourth-place run while Allen Perryman completed his best run of the year in fifth at the line.  Randy Ainsworth, Jerry Lee Henson Jr., Zach Green, and David Angell additionally earned top ten finishes at the drop of the cross-checkered flags.  Racing action continues this Saturday night at CMS with all four of its regular racing division, including ULMA Late Models.  CMS will hold a late model special event on Saturday, June 21st.  Drivers that have competed at CMS at least twice prior to the 21st can save $75 on the entry fee for this event.  Check out the event flyer at on the Internet at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
