Delph Communications GRAYSON, Ky. (June 5) - Josh McGuire and his #41 Dirt Late Model team picked up their first career Independent Racing Series (IRS) triumph on Friday night, May 30 at the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio! Josh, who has enjoyed a bunch off success at the Buckeye State oval in recent years, finished second in his heat race to advance to the 50-lap main event. The Grayson, Kentucky driver then put on a clinic during the A-Main, as he worked his way up through the stout field from his tenth starting spot to garner the $5,000 payday over Robbie Blair, Eddie Carrier, Jr., Duane Chamberlain, and Dave Hess, Jr. You can view complete results from Skyline online at www.irsracing.net!
A night later, the #41 team was in action at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The annual 'Ralph Latham Memorial' was on tap at the Cincinnati area venue and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Unfortunately, Josh could not make his way into the 50-lap Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned feature event after running ninth in his competitive heat race and twelfth in his B-Main. You can view full results from the 1/2-mile, high-banked Kentucky speedplant online at www.lucasdirt.com.
"It was a great night for us on Friday night at Skyline," quoted McGuire earlier in the week. "We usually have to come through a B-Main or rally from the tail there, so it was great to start tenth and work my way up front without any problems. The car worked awesome and we were able to get a much needed win. Then on Saturday at Florence, we battled truck problems all day long. Unfortunately, I think we spent more time fixing the truck than we did working on the car, and that is never a good thing."
The Josh McGuire Racing team has two more events on their upcoming weekend schedule. The #41 team will head to the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio on Friday night, June 6 for a $2,000 to win weekly show. They will then trek to the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening, June 7 for a $3,000 to win O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series race. You can learn more about each of these events online at www.rockytopraceway.net and www.battleofthebluegrass.com.
