Delph Communications BRIGHT, Ind. (June 4) - The Jam-Pow Motorsports team picked up their fifth career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory on Friday night, May 30 at the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio! Scott James won his heat race at the Buckeye State oval and later rolled off from the outside of the front row for the 35-lap main event. The Bright, Indiana driver took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the first fourteen circuits. After a hard-fought battle with Matt Miller, Scott retook the point for good on lap twenty-three and beat Miller, Dan Schlieper, Earl Pearson, Jr., and Doug Drown to the checkers to record the $7,000 triumph!
A night later, the #83 team was in action at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The annual 'Ralph Latham Memorial' was on tap at the Cincinnati area venue and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Unfortunately, Scott could not make his way into the 50-lap Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned feature event after running fifth in both his heat race and his B-Main. Following the weekend, Scott now finds himself tied for fifth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings. You can view complete results from the weekend online at www.lucasdirt.com!
"Wow, talk about an up and down weekend," commented James earlier in the week. "The car was just awesome at Hilltop and we won a great race between myself and Matt (Miller). Then on Saturday at Florence, the car just felt horrible all night. We later found out that we had some steering issues that unfortunately caused us to miss the show. But, we have climbed to fifth in points and will now set our sights on Eldora. It is a big week for us and I am proud to have Kyle (Busch) behind the wheel of one of our cars for the Prelude. I couldn't ask to be associated with a better and hotter driver right now and I am excited!"
Scott and his team are about ready to embark on the very busy 'Dream' week at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The "Silver Shark" will enter his #83 Rocket in the 14th Annual 'Dream 100' on Friday and Saturday, June 6-7. Qualifying will take place for the annual mega-event on Friday night, June 6, while heat races, consolation events, and the $100,000 to win, 100-lap main event are all set for Saturday evening. Scott transferred into the 'Dream 100' last season and wound up fifth, while his best ever finish in the race was a second place effort back in 2006.
In addition, the team has also prepared a car for NASCAR star Kyle Busch for the 'Old Spice Prelude to the Dream' tonight, June 4. The annual charity event also features the likes of Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, and many more drivers all piloting Dirt Late Models around the 1/2-mile, high-banked dirt speedplant. Kyle will be behind the wheel of a #18 racecar, with sponsorship coming from Interstate Batteries.
You can watch the 'Old Spice Prelude to the Dream' live on HBO Pay-Per-View TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. EDT. HBO Pay-Per-View's racing telecast has a suggested retail price of $24.95 and is available to more than 61 million pay-per-view homes. Proceeds from the 'Old Spice Prelude to the Dream' broadcast will go towards raising $1 million to support construction of the Victory Junction Gang Camp - Kansas City, as well as the Tony Stewart Foundation.
