Plymouth PR PLYMOUTH, Wisc. (May 31) - It was "Escanaba in da moonlight" for the Sprint car feature this past Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. Sprint car driver from Escanaba, Michigan, Earl Possi out paced heavy hitting veteran drivers in the feature with an incredible preformance.
The Late Model division had a clash of the titans for their feature. Randy Markwardt, Sheboygan, was chasing down 2007 PDTR Late Model Champion, Russ Scheffler, Waukesha, but couldn't quite get the job done with lapped traffic getting in the midst of the action. Scheffler went on to win his fifth checkered flag this season at Plymouth.
Bill Rezutek, Big Bend, won the B-main over Turk Letizia, Milwaukee, Eric Michaels, Cleveland, and Ray Reiss, Kiel.
Rick Scheffler, Waukesha, Randy Markwardt, Sheboygan, Russ Scheffler, Waukesha, and Zach Emmons, Milwaukee, were the Late Model heat winners.
Earl Possi started third in the feature behind Ty Bartz, Sheboygan Falls, who went to the infield after his car was suffering from engine problems. Al Schlafer went to the point but had Possi charging him lap to lap until overtaking him after a restart from a red flag. The red flag was brought out when Bartz's car started a small grass fire in the infield. But with quick action from the safety crew the fire was put out and the race continued.
Possi picked up the win with Al Schlafer, Sussex, finishing second. Danny Schlafer, Sussex, finished third, Travis Luedke, Plymouth, was fourth, and Lance "the Geezer" Fassbender, Burnette, rounded out the top five for the feature.
Tim Melis, Waldo, won the first B-main qualifier over Paul Pokorski, West Bend, and Aaron Shipper, Plymouth. Wayne Modjeski picked up the win in the second B-main, with Tony Wondra, Campbellsport, in second, and Adam Miller, Plymouth in third.
Heat winners for the Sprints were Al Schlafer, Danny Schlafer, Ty Bartz, and Ken Jay Fiedler, Sheboygan Falls.
The Grand National division feature had some hard chargers at the front for all of the feature, but it was Brad Dahmer, Sheboygan Falls, taking the feature win over Jeremy Sauter, Random Lake, and Matt Yancey, Sheboygan Falls. Sauter and Yancey raced Dahmer hard lap to lap, but Dahmer kept to the point for the win.
Troy Theobald, Sheboygan Falls, beat Mark Fieber, Cascade, in the B-main. Chad Kistner, New Holstein, was third, and Melissa Singer, Waldo, was fourth.
Grand National heat winners were Jestin Danes, New Holstein, Jeremy Sauter, Loren Lubach, Sheboygan, and Brad Dahmer.
In the Outlaw Compact division, Sean Mueller, Plymouth, barrel rolled his car in turn four to bring out the red flag in the feature race. He was ok. Chad Riederer put the DM Sales No. 2 car out front for the race and kept it there even with Jake Meyer, Plymouth, at his bumper for most of the race. Tim Simon, Fond du Lac, finished third, Jay Riemer, Sheboygan Falls, was fourth, and Tom Schneider, Chilton, was fifth.
Tim Simon and Jake Meyer were the heat races winners for the division.
All feature winners were given a trophy sponsored by BP Mobile Service.
