Moler Raceway Park had visitors this week as the 410 winged sprint cars came to town. In the qualifications it was West Union's Spud Gustin on top of the speed charts with a 10.69 second lap around the ¼ mile speed plant just edging out Danny Smith's 10.76 lap time. In heat race action Australia's Matthew Reid made his inaugural visit to America a memorable won as he won his first event while visiting the US, besting out Danny Smith. In heat race number two it was Dean Jacobs taking the win over Spud Gustin. In the dash action Matthew Reid picked up a second win of the night and guaranteed himself the pole position in the feature event. At the start of the feature it looked like Reid was going to win his first A main here in the US but a caution on lap 8 set-up a restart and Danville, Indiana's Danny Smith was not going to be denied as he sped around Reid and set sail in his trademark white number 4 machine. After 30 laps it was Smith taking home the $2,000 with Dean Jacobs second followed by Reid, Cole Duncan and in only his 2nd start on dirt Cale Conley placed fifth.
In the Modified division Brandon Green made his first visit to MRP of 2008 season a memorable one as he bested the field of modifieds to take home the big money. Doug Adkins took home 2nd place with Carter Jones, Shane Mugavin and Ray Branscum rounding out the top five spots. Green and Rick Jones were victorious in heat race action.
In the Phantom Fireworks Pure Stock division it was another 3-way battle this week but this time Scott Hess, Tim Carpenter, and Derrick Davis were the ones battling for supremacy. While Hess led most of the way Carpenter finally got around Hess only to have the caution come out and Hess returned to the top spot. Hess held on for the win while Carpenter, Davis, Mike Keller and last week's winner Ed Reynolds rounded out the top five.
In what looked like it might be a shootout from the OK Corral Branden Elam and Miles Tarvin made up the front row of the 15 lap Chevette feature event. Elam led the 1st lap but Tarvin led the rest as he went on to continue his dominance in the Chevette class at MRP. Eric Weaver ran third followed by Rusty Yarger and Chris Vance rounding out the top five.
