Bill Roth PADUCAH, Ky. (May 30) - A great crowd, 126 racecars, and a beautiful spring evening made for a memorable night Friday at PIR. And a nationally known motorsports star won the highest paying Late Model feature of the season.
UMP Late Models NASCAR star, Ken Schrader of Concord, NC showed why he is one of the nation's most talented and versatile drivers by winning the 40-lap UMP feature. His backstretch pass on the final lap earned him the checkered flag and a $6000 payday. Schrader had his hands full in a race-long battle with second place finisher Jason Feger of Bloomington, IL. Wes Steidinger of Fairbry, IL finished third after taking that position with just five laps left. Jesse Stovall, Brian Shirley, Terry English, and Feger won heat races for the 40 cars on hand. Buckner, IL's Kevin Cole was the fast qualifier circling the track in 16.092 seconds. This was the first of three races at three different tracks in three states, each paying $6000 to win. The Tri-Track Challenge moves on to I-55 Speedway in Pevely, MO Saturday and Macon (IL) Speedway on Sunday.
