Eric J. Westendorf SARVER, Penn. (May 30) - Brian Swartzlander was flat out dominant in winning his third feature of the season on Ferrante Motor Cars Night featuring the BRP/Hoosier Race Tire/Sunoco Race Fuel Modified Tour 2008. He started on the pole of the 30-lap, $1300-to-win BRP A-Main and never relinquished the lead throughout a bevy of cautions and double-file restarts! Del Rougeux Jr. and Jeremiah Shingledecker battled throughout the race for second place with Rougeux prevailing for the position, while Shingledecker crossed the stripe third. Jim Weller Jr. and Dave Murdick rounded out the top five. Skip Moore, Joe Crawford and Rex King Jr. Rex King checkered the B-Main
Jared Miley finally made a return visit to Sheetz Victory Lane after coming close so many times in 2007. Miley outdueled fellow young gun Gregg Satterlee to pick up his first Friedman's Freshmarkets UMP DIRTcar Super Late Model race since 2006. Miley started outside of Satterlee on the front row and led each of the 25 laps with Satterlee in tow. Alex Ferree, Matt Lux and Lynn Geisler rounded out the top five. Last week's feature winner John Mollick picked up a heat race win this week along with Miley and Sam Stile.
The Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprints pushed off second with heat race winner Charlie Holben starting on the outside pole in the Martha Dionise #15. Holben led the first 10 laps and appeared to be well on his way to Sheetz Victory Lane, but could not avoid a spun out Lindsay Enscoe in turn two. Holben left the track on the hook with front suspension damage. Mike Lutz inherited the lead and drove a masterful race on the top of a slick track to pick up his second Lernerville feature win in less than a year. Scott Priester took a few looks under Lutz, but was never able to run him down. Brent Matus continues his hot start to 2008 with a third place run followed by Kevin Schaeffer and Rod George. Charlie Holben and Bob Felmlee won heat races.
The evening drew to a close with "Batman" Bob Egley pulling his purple #30 into Sheetz Victory Lane for the second time this season. The 15-lap Advance Auto Parts UMP DIRTcar Street Stock feature was the most hotly contested event of the evening featuring a close, clean four car battle between Egley, Jason Fosnaught, Wayne Carbo and Paul Schreckengost. Jason Fosnaught took the lead on the back straightaway of lap six and led the next seven circuits until a caution slowed the field. On the lap 13 restart, Batman soared around the cushion and into the lead at the stripe. Fosnaught made one last charge off of turn four coming to the checkers but Egley was too strong coming off the cushion and rolled into Sheetz Victory Lane. Fosnaught was followed to the checkers by Wayne Carbo, a late-charging Pat Hanley and last week's feature winner Mike Pegher Jr. Paul Schreckengost and Jim Fosnaught claimed feature wins.
