PADUCAH, Ky. (May 29) - As the excitement mounts for the Tri-Track Challenge this Friday, May 30 at PIR, Ken Schrader has announced that he will be competing.  One of the nation's most versatile and successful drivers, Schrader is also a business partner of the track.  His appearances at PIR have proven to be fan favorites.

The sixth annual UMP Late Model Tri-Track Challenge racing weekend has garnered interest from fans and drivers alike.  This year the Tri-Track Challenge racers will start off the weekend at Paducah International Raceway on Friday night, then head to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO on Saturday night, and then try to conquer the 1/5 mile oval at Macon Speedway.  This huge racing weekend will include three nights of racing at three different tracks in three different states, all three events paying $6,000 to the feature winner.  Interest is high among fans and competitors to see if one of last year's winners can repeat and possibly bring home $28,000!

This is the sixth year of the much anticipated racing weekend.  Last year's winners were Brian Shirley, Kevin Cole and Dennis Erb.  It gives the drivers a chance at a total of $28,000 - each feature event pays $6,000 to win plus, as an extra incentive, the promoters have teamed together and offered a $10,000 bonus/challenge if one driver can win two out of three of the races.

PIR's supporting divisions will also be on the card, including four more UMP divisions:  Modifieds, Crate (Pro) Late Models, Street Stocks, and 4-cylinder Warriors.  An increased winner's purse of $600 will be paid to the Modified winner.  The Super Cell Mini Sprints also will compete.

Hot laps will begin at approximately 6:30 PM, time trials for the UMP Late Models will get underway at 6:45 PM, racing begins at 7:30 PM.  Pit gates open at 4 PM, the grandstand ticket office and gates open at 5 PM.  Adult grandstand admission is $20, children 12 and under are $5.  Pit passes are $30, minor releases are required.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005.  Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006.  In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.  PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.  For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
