CRESTON, Ohio (May 27) - Jason & Kristin Flory of Creston, OH, the husband-wife dirt Late Model racing team ('Mr. & Mrs. Late Model'), had a busy Memorial Day weekend competing at three different race tracks in Ohio in three nights with Jason Flory ending the holiday weekend with a feature win at Midway Speedway in Crooksville, OH. The Flory's raced their dirt Late Models this weekend at Lakeville Speedway, Muskingum County Speedway and Midway Speedway.
Both were driving their Mastersbilt Race Cars sponsored by Joe Mcillvaine, J&D Truck Leasing, LLC, Ray's Garage, Kurt's Auto Parts, Winar Conections/#1 Sales, Donnie Moran Racing, Hodge's Café, American Racer by Tye Twarog, Millistone Services, Mason Racin, Farriss Farms & Medina Mountain Motors.
Jason was a man on a mission when he won the Super Late Model main event Sunday May 25 at Midway Raceway in Crooksville, Ohio over Harold Redman, Jr., Shane McLoughlin, Ralph Withem and Dan Shrigley. It was his first Super Late Model main event victory of the season for the former Wayne County Speedway track champion. It was also the team's first trip of the season to Midway Speedway.
Kristin finished eighth in the companion Limited Late Model feature event at Midway.
On Saturday May 24 the team headed south for the Independent Racing Series sanctioned special event at the Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH where Jason finished 22nd among the 51-car field on tap that night. In the companion Limited Late Model feature race Kristin took the checkered flag with a strong second place finish.
On Friday night May 23 at Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH the duo competed in the first leg of the non-sanctioned Triple Crown Series 40-lap special event for Late Models where Jason scored a third place finish in the main event with Kristin placing 16th after running as high as third.
After Kristin won the season opener a month ago at Lakeville Speedway the team, like other racers around the region and country, have been dodging rain drops and foul weather trying to compete. During the previous two weeks the Flory's both managed to get some racing in between thunderstorms.
On Friday May 16 the team headed to Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH where the team had a self-described successful night. "We raced Hilltop that Friday night since Lakeville rained out," explained Kristin. "Jason and I both had bad qualifying efforts with a 9th and 11th. Jason started eighth in the feature and was running second for a long time with a restart about three to go when Rick Bond passed both Jason and George (Lee) for the win. Jason was extremely happy with that finish because Hilltop is not usually good to us. I was able to get a seventh place finish." The following night, after a trip south to Muskingum County Speedway, the races were rained out."
The Saturday prior on (May 10) they both did get to race at Muskingum County Speedway where Kristin also raced in the Super Late model division with Jason. The duo also raced in the main event with team sponsor Donnie Moran. "Jason started seventh and finished fourth and I started 15th and finished 13th," said Kristin. "Jason had hard tires on and needed more laps to make things work. But he was happy with the finish!"
