Delph Communications BRIGHT, Ind. (May 22) - The Jam-Pow Motorsports team trekked to Iowa and Illinois last weekend for a pivotal Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader. The dirt-slinging action kicked off for the #83 team at the Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa on Friday night, May 16. Scott James ran second in his heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the fourth row for the $10,000 to win feature event. During the course of the 'Banner Valley Hauling 50,' Scott was running in the eighth position when he suffered an untimely flat tire. After restarting at the tail end of the stout field, the "Silver Shark" recorded a fourteenth place performance following fifty green flag racing laps around the flat, 1/2-mile speedplant.
On Saturday evening, May 17, the Dirt Late Model action turned to the venerable LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois for another $10,000 to win show. Scott won his heat race in preliminary action at the 1/4-mile bullring, which earned him a starting spot up front in the 'Spring Shootout.' The Bright, Indiana native was strong early in the race, but while battling for the third position with eventual winner Tim McCreadie, Scott got into the wall. With damage to the spoiler and deck, Scott limped his Powell Motorsports / Baylor Trucking / Welsh Excavation & Development #83 Rocket / Jay Dickens entry home in the fourteenth spot. Following the pair of fourteenth place efforts over the weekend, Scott is now up to sixth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings. "Our cars are getting better, but unfortunately we didn't get the finishes that we should have last weekend," stated James this week. "The flat tire at Farley cost us a top ten finish and then I think we had a top three car at LaSalle. I got to racing with (Tim) McCreadie pretty hard and got into the wall, which tore up the deck and spoiler. We were going to head out to West Plains for the Show-Me 100, but with the work we have to do to repair the car from LaSalle, plus put the finishing touches on Kyle Busch's Prelude car, the smartest thing to do is to stay closer to home this weekend."
Scott and his #83 Dirt Late Model team will now set their sights on a pair of events over the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend. On Saturday night, May 24, the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky will play host to a $1,500 to win regular weekly show. The action will then turn north to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday, May 25. The Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) will sanction a $2,000 to win event at the "Big E" on Sunday, which serves as the final tune-up for the $100,000 to win 'Dream 100' on June 6-7.
