TRUMANN, Ark. (May 19) - In 2007, Kyle Beard made his first attempt at a Show Me 100, but mechanical woes that arose during Thursday night's practice, would leave the team down on power for the weekend. This Friday through Saturday, May 22nd-24th Beard will be looking for redemption at West Plains Motor Speedway in the 16th Annual O'Reilly Show Me 100.
Beard Motorsports planned to compete in two events in their home state of Arkansas last week, but heavy rain during the week forced the cancellation of the Friday program with the O'Reilly MSRA at 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas.
On Saturday, the team headed south to Monticello Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas for the AMP Super Late Model sanctioned, Kenneth Mitcham Memorial paying $2,500 to win. Kyle started 5th in his heat and recorded a 2nd place finish, which earned him a 4th starting position for the feature event. Three laps into the feature, Kyle bolted to the lead and would build a sizeable advantage before a late race caution bunched the field back together. On the ensuing restart second place runner, Jon Mitchell, got a strong run to the outside of Beard as the pair began to battle side by side for the lead. Mitchell edged ahead for good with 3 laps to go in the 30 lap event. At the finish line, Kyle came home in the second spot. He also picked up a pair of $50 lap bonuses for being the leader on laps 10 and 20.
This weekend Kyle will take his #86 GRT By Frye/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri for the 16th Annual O'Reilly Show Me 100. The event pays $42,000 to win and $4,200 to start. Action gets underway on Thursday night with an open practice from 7pm to 9:30pm. On Friday night, time trials will be held as well as six 20 lap heat races. The event concludes on Saturday night with three b-mains and the 100 lap main event.
