Bob Appleget CLEVELAND, Tenn. (May 14) - North Georgia and Cleveland Speedways will each have a Late Model special this weekend. The combined purses and bonuses for the two events could lead to one winner taking home $8,200 for his winning efforts.
On Friday night at North Georgia Speedway the Super Late Model feature will pay $2,000 to the winner. The Hebling Brown Construction Company has put up $200 for the fast qualifier and Car Smart of Cleveland has posted a $1,000 bonus if one driver wins the North Georgia special and the special at Cleveland Speedway on Saturday. So if one driver pulls off a sweep he will be $8,200 richer.
On top of the Late Model Special there will be racing in, Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Hobby, Pony and Econo Bombers.
On Saturday night Cleveland Speedway will host the 31st running of the SAS Coca Cola Tennessee Memorial. The Southern All Star event will pay $5,000 to win. Plus there will be racing in Limited/Crate Late Models, A and B Hobby, Pony and Front Wheel drives. The normal NGa./CS bonuses will be in place for all classes except Super Late Models.
"Having back-to-back specials will enable a number of the area drivers to have a shot at some good money without a lot of travel," said promoter Monty Morrow. "With $8,000 up for grabs and not much happening in the area, we should see a number of good cars and some really good racing."
On Friday at North Georgia and Saturday night at Cleveland the pits will open at 4 pm, the grandstands at 5 pm with racing at 7:30 pm. Grandstand admission at North Georgia will be $15 for adults, kids 6 to 11 are $3 under six are free. Pit passes are $25. On Saturday night at Cleveland grandstands are $17 for adults, kids 6 to 11 are $3 under six are free. Pit passes are $30.
