CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (May 12) - Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL extended his lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region with a win and two top five finishes over the weekend. Stephens finished fourth on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and then took his second win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

Stephens has 338 points to lead Larry Harrod of Plains, GA by 58 points. Adam Martin of Talladega, AL has become "Mr. Second-Place" in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region, as he posted his fifth second-place finish of the season in six starts at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Saturday night. Martin is third in the East Region standings with 286.

Anthony Meadows of Lanett, AL took his third win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway, and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 284 points. Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL is fifth with 274 points.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL put one in the win column on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and is sixth in the East Region standings with 270 points. Dana Eiland of Salem, AL is seventh with 256 points, and after taking the weekend off, the defending NeSmith Chevrolet East Region Champion Logan Yates of Delta, AL dropped to eighth with 248 points.

Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL climbed into the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point standings with a pair of fifth-place finishes on Friday night at Penton Raceway and on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. The 14-year-old driver has 241 points, and will be looking to celebrate his 15th birthday on Friday night with a win at Penton Raceway. Landon Sims of Talladega, AL rounds out the top ten with 233 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region action on Saturday night, Chris Noah of Glencoe, AL was the winner at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL, and Russell Welch of Cottondale, FL picked up his third win of the season at Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway in Dothan, AL.

Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Fort Payne, AL will open for competition in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region this Friday night, and Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, AL will return to action on Saturday night with a double-points race.

In the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region, the defending and two-time champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS continues to lead with 270 points, and holds a 32-point lead over Herman Reynolds of Laurel, MS.

Keeton picked up 20 West Region bonus points over the weekend with a win on Friday night in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event at Southern Speedway, and a third place showing on Saturday night at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA with the National Tour. Keeton has competed in seven races this season with five wins, one second, and one third.

Talbert Goldman of Meridian, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 218 points. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL climbed up to the fourth spot with 209 points after his first win of the season on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fifth with 208 points, and Tootie Arnold of Meadville, MS is sixth with 196 points. Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is seventh with 189 points, and Michael Santangelo of St. Rose, LA is tied for the eighth spot with Heath Gibson of Brewton, AL at 186 points. Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region with 180 points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action on Saturday night, Greg Allen of Cherokee, AL was the winner at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS took the victory at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Brandon Register of Greenville, AL picked up his second win of the season at Butler County Motorsports Park in Greenville, AL.
