LAKEVILLE, Ohio (May 10) - The regular Friday night racing at The New Lakeville Speedway was postponed until the follow evening and the extra day of waiting as the fans, drivers were greeted with an ultra smooth and very fast racing surface.

The first main event to assemble was the American Payroll Advance Late Models. Alan Baker and Mike Lonas had earned the front row with Rick Bond and Bill Clapp filling up the second row. Lonas wasted no time at the drop of the green as he powered to the point with Bond chasing. The first caution would slow the field as Wes Morrison rolled to a stop in turn four on the second lap. As they were ready to go back to green, Baker went pitside and was finished for the evening. Just as the previous start, Lonas busted loose again to lead Bond by as many as 6 car lengths. A couple more yellows bunched the field up again and on laps 10 and 11 Bond make several exciting moves to get around Lonas but could not make it happen. While the front runners were battling, several other races were happening with Benny Lester and Clint Coffman. Lester had started 11th and Lester was working from his 7th place start.Just past the half way point Lonas stretched his lead over Bond to maybe 11 car lengths. The field remained the same until about lap 21 when the shuffle started happening. When the black and white was displayed it was Lonas followed by Bond,Coffman finished third, Lester was scored in fourth and J.R.Gentry had came from starting eighth to record a top five finish.Heat wins were gathered in by Morrison and Lonas.

The next event to come to the grid was the Pepsi Winged Sprints.Cody Jacobs was on the pole with Jason Dolick on the outside and row two was made up with Chad Levingston and Jeremy Aumend.Dolick weas able to beat Jacobs to the first turn and blasted out to the lead.Jacobs maintained his second place run until lap 6 when Danny Mumaw from 6th place replaced Jacobs in the runner up spot.Bryan Grove was making his run to the front as well and was shown in 3rd place.A lap nine red flag for a slow rollover by Jerry McClure stopped the field.McClure with very little damaged return to the track with a new wing and ready to start the battle again. On lap 16 Nick Mulheim make the pass on Mumaw and set his sights on the leader Dolick.Mumaws night came to an end with two laps to go with a yellow flag.At the finish line it was Dolick getting him first win on his first visit this year,Mulheim recorded a very close second,Tim Hunter showed his power by driving to a third place finish from starting in the eighth hole.Grove drove a very respectable race to come home in fourth and Jeremy Shambaugh made a great run from starting last to record a top five finish.Mulheim and Mumaw got the heat wins and Hunter raced to the win in the dash.

The Hamlin Racing Engines sponsored Pure Stocks came to the starting line next as twenty one competitors took the green flag.Rich Frame,Don Baney,Brett Burgess and Dave Haven Sr.filled up the two front rows for the start.Frame went to the lead very quickly as Burgess dropped in behind the leader with Baney riding third and Donna Canode shown in fourth. After six laps had been put into the books,Billy Goerz was rapidly coming from his eighth starting place and using the high side of the track to make his #55 work for him.Burgess at this time had replaced Frame at the point with now Goerz pressuring Burgess for the lead.On the tenth lap Goerz made the move to the high side again and went outfront. The exciting part of this event was seeing three wide action for several laps between Burgess,Shaun Cains,Hud Wharton and Brad Channell.Baney fell out of the mix with problems and retired to the pits as did Wharton.Paul Harringer became a real player in this battle as well as he worked through the field from 14th.

Dave Haven Jr.celebrating his birthday had the run of the night as he picked off car after car in his charge to the front. No one had enough for Goerz as he got his third win of the year in his Custom Cabinets #55.Cains was scorded in second with Harringer getting third.Burgess finished fourth, however was disqualified in post race inspected which moved Haven Jr to fourth and Canode to a fifth place finish. The three heats were won by Goerz,Cains, and Murray Anderson.

Josh Hershberger was chased by Dale Beckett just about the entire event in the Hague Crystal Clear Water Mini Stocks. Those two seperated themselves from the rest of the field early in the feature event until lap 7 when Jordan James and Cody Rinard joined the heated action.Sean Rush was giving his every effort to come forward from his 9th starting position.By lap 12 lapped traffic came in to play and the two front place cars worked it to thier advantage. It was a very close finish as Hershberger got the win with Beckett second,James third,Rush fourth and Rinard in the fifth spot.Justin Brown,Rush and Hershberger got the heat wins with Michelle West winning the B Main and Lenny Quinn gathering in the top spot in the C Main battle.

Doug Hensel got his second feature trophy in the Rod Eddletblutes garage Novice Mini Stocks.Early in the event Tim Rush was the leader with hensel chasing him.On the 8th lap,Hensel went to the lead, however Rush did not give up as those two showed the fans that they are very capable of handling the power plants under the hoods. The top were Hensel,Rush,Brad Lawhorn,Kevin Wright and Steven Folley.Sonny Flannery got the heat victory.

Charlie Dawson won his second feature out of three attempts in the Tom's Salvage Classic Cruisers.Dawson had won the earlier heat race and started 4th.Cody Radcliff led the first 4 laps as Bob Fry was in pursuit and on lap 6 Dawson took over and drove to the win.Fry finished second Royal Mast was third,Cody Radcliff came home 4th and Dave Radcliff 5th with Gary Hensel gathering in the 6th place finish.

Chas Odell made his first visit to Lakeville a successful one by winning the Mountain Dew Truck feature. It wasnt as easy as it may sound. He started third and took the lead right away with Todd Gallion chasing him.Brandon Craver became a player by lap 5.Craver then took the lead at the half way point but was not to stay out front long.Odell powered back up beside Craver and they dueled for the lead for a couple trips arond the 3/8 track.Odell held off Craver challenge to record the win with Craver second,Gallion third,Ben Brannon fourth and Gail Wallace finishing fifth.
