MUSCATINE, Iowa (May 8) - The Birkhofer Racing team invaded the Show-Me State of Missouri last weekend for a pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series shows. Their doubleheader weekend was highlighted by a $7,000 triumph on Sunday night, May 4 at the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri. Brian Birkhofer was third quick in WOOLMS time trials at Monett and later won his competitive heat race. After drawing the pole position for the A-Main, Brian kept his #15b machine out front of the stellar field for the entire 40 laps en route to the victory over Wendell Wallace, Tim Fuller, Darrell Lanigan, and Chub Frank.

A night earlier "Birky" was in action at the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri on Saturday for a $10,000 to win WOOLMS event. Brian was second fastest in qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After starting from the fifth spot in the 40-lap A-Main, the Muscatine, Iowa native ran amongst the top five until suffering a late flat tire that relegated him to a disappointing eighteenth place performance. "Man, I am really impressed with how this new car is performing," quoted Birkhofer who reached victory lane at Monett in the car he and the Mars Brothers built over the off-season. "It ran strong at Lebanon on Saturday night, as I think we had a top five car until that flat tire took us out of contention late in the race. On Sunday, me and Jimmy (Mars) tweaked on the front end of the car before the race at Monett and I think we really hit on something. I feel really good heading into Wheatland and hopefully things will go our way like it did there last year!"

The 2nd Annual 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals' will take place this upcoming weekend at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the mega-event, which boasts a $40,000 top prize. An open practice night will take place on Thursday night, May 8 prior to qualifying on Friday evening, May 9. A complete lineup of heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals' will then headline the program on Saturday, May 10. The cameras of the SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape the exciting action for broadcast later in the year. Brian is the defending champion of the race, as he pocketed $25,000 for his efforts last season.
