KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (May 7) - Rick Rogers entered the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series at Volunteer Speedway in second place in the series standings. Rogers left Volunteer with the lead.

Rogers posted the third fastest time during qualifying, but started the 6-lap Sunoco Dash from the outside of row 1 after fast qualifier, Scott Bloomquist, drew a "4" to invert the top 4 cars.

The dash did not go well as Rogers struggled to find the handling on his #44 Warrior. Rogers finished 5th to earn the fifth starting spot for the 50-lap, $4,000 to win feature.

In the feature, Rogers rebounded as he picked off several cars and posted a 2nd place finish to winner Scott Bloomquist. Rogers was happy with the finish and the speed his Warrior displayed in the feature.

Rogers now assumes the point lead in the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series. He leads Stacy Boles and Billy Ogle Jr. by 49 points.

The next stop for Rogers will be the $3,000 to win AAPTS race at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN

Rogers' #44 Warrior GTO is sponsored by BKW Disaster Recovery, Greeneville Forest Products, Goddard Performance, West Haven Speed Equipment, MRM Racing Photos, and Fast Lane Graphics. The car is powered by Vic Hill Racing Engines. Fans can visit Rogers' web site at www.RickRogersRacing.com to view photos, order merchandise, and learn more about the Rick Rogers race team.
