Delph Communications FRANKLIN, Ind. (May 7) - Steve Barnett reached victory lane for the first time in the young 2008 racing season on Saturday night, May 3 at the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana! Steve, aboard his Tony Stewart Racing / J.D. Byrider #20 C.J. Rayburn Crate Late Model, finished second in his heat race despite a flat tire to earn the fourth starting spot for the A-Main. The driver known as the "Franklin Flyer" then ran a great race and worked his way around leader Mark Barber with about five laps remaining to pick up the $900 top prize. "It was really cool to see all #20 cars in victory lane last Saturday night at Brownstown, especially considering they were all Tony Stewart backed cars," commented Barnett this week via telephone. "Our Crate car ran real strong all night and I was able to get around (Mark) Barber late in the race for the win. Hopefully, we can keep things going at Brownstown, as I would love to run well and have a chance to win the Hoosier Dirt Classic this weekend!"
The Steve Barnett Racing team is currently gearing up for the annual running of the 'Hoosier Dirt Classic,' which will take place at the Brownstown (IN) Speedway on Saturday night, May 10. The rain-postponed race will be sanctioned by the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series and will pay $3,000 to the winner.
