Michael Despain JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (May 5) - After having the 9th Annual Hugh "Junebug" Rowland Memorial event rained out on May 2, "Kentucky's Baddest Bullring", Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will return to action this Friday evening, May 9, at the 3/8 mile clay oval located on the Boyle/Lincoln County border and promoted by Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz.
The racing program scheduled for Friday May 9 will see the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models race 30 laps for $1,500 to win. Also in action on Friday May 9 will be the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, Hardee's Modifieds, and SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman in weekly racing series action.
Activities for the Friday May 9 racing event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The driver's meeting will take place at 6:45 p.m., with hot laps at 7:15 p.m., time trials at 7:45 p.m., and racing set for the green flag at or before 8:30 p.m. For May 9, general admission will be $12, children ages 6 to 12 will be $5, children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $30.
Ponderosa Speedway last raced on April 25 and feature event winners that evening included Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, P.J. Feistritzer of Danville, KY in Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, Benji Lee of St. Joe, KY in Hardee's Modifieds, and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY and Logan Whitis of Hustonville, KY tied for the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman win.
Track championship points leaders heading into the Friday May 9 racing program are Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, P.J. Feistritzer of Danville, KY in Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, Kelly Warren of Columbia, KY in Hardee's Modifieds, and Bartley Grant of Berea, KY in SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman.
