PADUCAH, Ky. (May 5) - It'll be a double-header weekend of racing at PIR.  A six-division night of racing is scheduled May 9.  On the Friday program are heats and features for Late Models, Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Street Stocks, and 4 cylinder Warriors, along with double features for the Vintage Racers.  Also on Friday, PIR will salute all Moms, who each will receive a complimentary rose or carnation courtesy of the Rose Garden of Paducah.

Point leaders Jason McBride (Late Model), Ron Reed (Modified), Tait Davenport (Crate Late Model), Terry Jones (Street Stock), and Keaton Downing (Warrior) will lead their UMP divisions into the fourth evening of competition this season.  The Vintage Racers will open the program with their feature which was rained out April 25, then begin a regular heats-and-feature program.

In addition to Friday night racing this week, PIR will welcome the world famous World of Outlaws Sprint Cars the very next night, Saturday, May 10.  Craig Dollansky and Jason Meyers lead the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series into PIR for a thrilling night of racing. The two drivers who hold down the top two positions in the series standings have combined to win five of the first six races this season. With two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz, along with 20-time titlist Steve Kinser, and Joey Saldana, along with 15 more of the greatest sprint car drivers in the world right on their heals, Dollansky and Meyers will have their work cut out for them at Paducah International Raceway. The full racing program will feature hot laps, time trials, heat races, the Crane Cams Dash, the Last Chance Showdown and an A-Feature that will see the winner take home $10,000.  Local classes participating in this event are the UMP Modifieds and Street Stocks, plus the Super Cell Mini Sprints.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005.  Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006.  In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.  PIR races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.  For more information call the PIR hotline at (270) 448-4PIR or the track at (270) 898-SHOW (7469).
