WINFIELD, Tenn. (May 1) - The "Winfield Warrior" Mike Marlar closed out his busy month of April with a pair of events at the Crossville (TN) Raceway USA and the Bluegrass (KY) Speedway last weekend! Mike reached victory lane for the second time in 2008 on Saturday night, April 26 at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky. Aboard the Estes Racing Engines #78 C.J. Rayburn entry, Mike won his heat race prior to passing race leader Jordan Bland on lap eighteen of the 30-lap O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series-sanctioned feature event. The Winfield, Tennessee native went on to lead the last twelve circuits of the $3,000 to win A-Main to record the triumph over Victor Lee, Jordan Bland, Tyrel Todd, and Don O'Neal.

A night earlier, Mike drove his own #157 machine at the Crossville Raceway USA in Crossville, Tennessee. Mike timed in second quickest in his group during Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) qualifying and later started the $3,000 to win feature event from the inside of the fourth row. He then moved up three positions during the course of the A-Main to bring home a solid fourth place effort behind winner Dale McDowell, Randy Weaver, and Billy Ogle, Jr. You can view complete results from the doubleheader weekend online at www.southernregionalracingseries.com and www.battleofthebluegrass.com!

"The weekend went pretty well for us," stated Marlar today via telephone. "I brought my own stuff to Crossville on Friday night and ran well, despite the track being one-lane for the feature. Then at Bardstown, we had a really good night in the Estes machine. Jordan (Bland) ran a great race, but we were able to get a little better as the race wore on and that was the key. I have to thank the Estes family for allowing me to drive their equipment on occasion and it was a thrill to drive their car into victory lane last Saturday at Bardstown!"

Mike has two more O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series events listed on his upcoming weekend schedule. The Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky will play host to a $3,000 to win show on Friday night, May 2. The action will then turn to the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky on Saturday evening, May 3 for another $3,000 to win race.
