Delph Communications CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (April 24) - "The Rattler" Justin Rattliff unveiled a new C.J. Rayburn racecar last weekend and drove it into victory lane on both Friday and Saturday to earn his first two wins of the young 2008 racing season! Justin and his #16 Dirt Late Model team invaded the Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon, Indiana on Friday night, April 18 for a $3,000 to win O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirtcar Series show.
The young Campbellsville, Kentucky driver finished second in his heat race prior to rolling off from the inside of the third row for the 40-lap main event. Justin vaulted up into the second spot during the middle stages of the race and tracked down leader Don O'Neal, who was apparently suffering from a deflating tire. Nonetheless, Justin drove by O'Neal on lap thirty-eight and held the point for the last two circuits to record the triumph over O'Neal, Steve Barnett, Kevin Claycomb, and Victor Lee!
The action then turned to the historic Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening, April 19. The King family owned 1/2-mile, high-banked oval played host to a $2,000 to win event on Saturday. Justin started at the tail of his heat race and came up to the sixth spot, which earned him enough passing points to start thirteenth in the A-Main. Even though he started mid-pack, Justin was able to come up through the field to collect the $2,000 payday over Mike Jewell, Audie McWilliams, Brandon Kinzer, and Jesse Lay. "It was a great weekend for the Justin Rattliff Racing team," stated Rattliff yesterday via telephone. "The new C.J. Rayburn car seems to be really good and it is probably the best handling car I have ever driven. Hopefully, we can keep rolling and gain some added momentum this weekend at Bedford and Hagerstown. I have to thank my family, my crew, and all of my sponsors for their continued support and I will try to get them another win this weekend out east!"
The Justin Rattliff Racing team will head to Pennsylvania and Maryland this upcoming weekend, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction a pair of events. The Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania is first up on Friday night, April 25. A $7,000 to win show will be held at Bedford tomorrow evening. The weekend doubleheader will be capped off on Saturday evening, April 26 at the hallowed Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland. The venerable speedplant will play host to the $10,000 to win 'Stanley Schetrompf Memorial' on Saturday. Justin comes into the April 25-26 weekend fifth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
