CRESTON, Ohio (April 22) - Jason & Kristin Flory of Creston, OH, the husband-wife dirt Late Model racing team ('Mr. & Mrs. Late Model'), opened their 2008 racing season last weekend at Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH where Kristin came home the big winner by taking the checkered flag during the season opener. Jason completed the main event in fourth place. Both were driving their Mastersbilt Race Cars sponsored by Joe Mcillvaine, J&D Truck Leasing, LLC, Ray's Garage, Kurt's Auto Parts, Winar Conections/#1 Sales, Donnie Moran Racing, Hodge's Café, American Racer by Tye Twarog, Millistone Services, Mason Racin, Farriss Farms & Medina Mountain Motors.
"It was a great way to start off the season," commented Kristin. "I have never won a season opener before so that was great and Lakeville seemed to have a really good crowd and they seemed to love watching me beat all those men by their cheers. Jason says that I won because of him. Not only did he fix some mistakes I made on my car including the shifting linkage and a loose clutch line, when we went to draw a pill for the feature there was a #1 and a #4 in the bucket and he decided to let me pick first."
"I think I was meant to draw number one. It was my night that is for sure. The car was not that great in the heat but my crew, Janet, Dad and Paul made lots of changes and it was really good for the feature. My Mom even waxed both cars before the feature. I think that is what put my car in the winners circle (laughs)!"
"I am not sure what happened to Jason but I told him earlier that we needed to finish 1-2 and it did not matter who was ahead. I told him I held up my end of the deal, where was he? (Laughs) He told me the track was one groove and that is why he did not beat me. We will just have to see what happens next week. I am real happy for my win but we race again next Friday so I have to keep my head in the game and not slack up because I know that Jason did not like me beating him and he will definitely be gunning for me next week."
"And I really want to keep beating him!"
Races last Saturday at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH were rained out before the features could be completed.
This past week the Flory's had a busy time. In addition to racing they both appeared on the Handy Randy Autocare TV show on Sunday that airs on WAX Channel 35 (Cleveland) and WAOH Channel 29 in Akron and on Tuesday the duo were guests on the 'Dirt Racing Wrap-Up' radio program that airs each Tuesday evening on WYBZ 107.3 FM in Zanesville, Ohio. The team was also spotlighted in their local daily newspaper, the Daily Record.
Jason also did some testing at Muskingum County Speedway with good friend and team sponsor Donnie Moran earlier in the week.
This coming Friday night April 25 both drivers will return to Lakeville Speedway and then to Wayne County Speedway on Saturday evening.
The Flory Racing Team is also comprised of crew chief Paul McVicker, Dale Michael, Joe McIlvaine and part time crewmembers Mark Uhler, Helen Uhler, Janet Parker & John Stone.
Jason & Kristin also released late last season their all-new 'Mr. & Mrs. Late Model' T-Shirt designed and produced by ASI Racewear. The new T-Shirts are now available for purchase.
