Show Me Racin' Series
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 19) - Saturday's season opener for the Springfield Raceway featuring the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series brought an amazing 34 late models to the track to battle for the win.

Glen Yarbrough, Rick Wallis, Ken Patterson, and Jarrod Hilton took heat race wins. Two B features were run for the 18 remaining cars that had failed to qualify through the heats. Ken Essary took the win for the first B feature, and Darrin Barton took the second B.

22 cars strong started the evening's 30 lap main event, with Ken Patterson and Rick Wallis on the front row. Second row starter Don Cloyd jumped out to the early lead, with a yellow coming on lap 3 for the number 83 of Chuck Comer. The restart lead to a red for an accident involving Ken Patterson, Ken Essary, Kenny Hartwigsen, and Shannon Phillips.

When racing action got back underway Don Cloyd was hanging on to the top spot over a hard charging Jim Fulp, with last week's winner Leslie Essary, and second place runner Jeremy Kelley making their way towards the front. A caution came out on lap 11, and second place runner Jim Fulp, decided that he wasn't going to pull the pass off on the low grove, so on the restart, the 00 moved up to the high side, and started working on taking over the lead. Fulp took the point on lap 17. Behind the fight for the lead, Jeremy Kelley, Leslie Essary, Shane Essary, Burl Woods, and Conner Ward were all swapping positions from lap to lap. Back in the field, Randy Galloway was moving up from his 21st starting position to an impressive 9th place.

In the end, the 00 was able to hang on for the win with his high groove still working, just barely over Jeremy Kelley who was using the low side to bring him to his second 2nd place finish in as many races. Jeremy Kelley was able to take over the point lead with his finish. Shane Essary ended up 3rd, Burl Woods 4th, and Don Cloyd in 5th. Leslie Essary had power steering problems and ended up 6th.

Next on the schedule for the Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series is a double header weekend on May 2 at North Central Arkansas Speedway in Flippin, AR and on Saturday May 3 at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.
