"At a young age Mike set high goals for Dixie and Rome Speedway, always striving to have professionally run weekly shows. He was successful in his endeavors, so now we will honor his accomplishments and work hard to make Dixie and Rome the greatest shows on dirt for race fans and drivers," said Mickey Swims track President and Mike's father. Mickey will be assuming the role of track promoter with the same dedicated staff as in previous years.

In addition to its traditional Saturday night stock car racing events, race fans will also be treated to Monster Truck Shows, Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Touring Series, ASCS Outlaw Sprint Cars, Top Tracks Crate Engine Series, Demolition derbies, bicycle races for kids, fireworks displays, and discount admission nights.

Pre-season practice is scheduled for Saturday night, April 12 at 7 PM. Drivers in the Super Late Model, Sportsman, Limited Late Models, Sportsman, Econo & Super Bombers, Cruisers and Pony Stock divisions will alternate hot laps sessions throughout the evening. Jumping Jeremy's Moonwalks will be on site free for kids from 3 PM - 7 PM. Admission is free in the grandstands for all ages.

Saturday night, April 19 at 7:30 PM Dixie Speedway hosts the $30,000 Spring Short Track Championships for Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Sportsman, Super & Econo Bombers, Cruisers, and Pony Stocks.

The Carl Black Spring Monster Truck Nationals is set for Friday and Saturday night, April 25 & 26 at 8:00 PM each night. A total of 8 Monster Trucks, featuring Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction, along with a Show and Shine contest for street vehicles and Free Style Motorcross will be on hand each night. The official season opener at Dixie Speedway will be Saturday night, May 3 at 7:30PM with a full racing program. The awards presentation for the 2007 season champions will also take place.

Rome Speedway will host 6 special events in 2008. The season opener is scheduled for Sunday night, May 25 at 7:30 PM. Top Tracks Series and Super Late Models will headline the evenings activities along with a full racing program. Rome Speedway is located at 1900 Chulio Road, 4 miles east of Rome off Hwy 411.
