ARCHDALE, N.C. (April 11) - Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing team won for the second time this year at Golden Isles Speedway winning this past weekend's 50-lap feature event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Earl driving the Bobby Labonte owned Mastersbilt Chassis started 9th in the feature event. Earl would move into the top 5 by the half way point of the race and was in contention for another top 5 finish at the track he won a UMP sanctioned event during this years "Super Bowl of Racing" during speedweeks this year at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA. Earl would move into third place with eleven laps to go and the crowd was beginning to anticipate a fierce battle for the lead between leader Scott Bloomquist, Steve Casebolt and Earl as the laps clicked off. With just two laps to go Pearson would power by Casebolt on the outside and began to reel in Bloomquist. On the final lap Bloomquist would lead as they got the white flag but Earl would again use the high groove and powered by Bloomquist off of turn two to take the lead and beat Bloomquist to the finish line to win the $10,000 first place prize money.

"It was a great win for me and the crew in front of my home crowd. Most of my family and many of my friends from this area were here to see me get a victory against a great field of drivers. It was even more rewarding to me to pass Bloomquist on the last lap at this track after all the controversy he stirred up here during speedweeks about tires. I have to congratulate Casebolt and my former crew chief Jason Fitzgerald on great runs by them to finish in the top 5. The track was really racy and the track officials did a great job preparing the track that provided several grooves to race on. It should be a great show to see on SPEED Channel later this year", stated Earl.

Earl also competed in two other Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned events over the weekend. Earl would finish 5th in last Thursdays event at Swainsboro raceway in Swainsboro, GA. Then on Friday night Earl was running a solid fourth place at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA before breaking a J-bar and suffering a DNF to finish 15th. With his win at Golden Isles Speedway Earl has now moved into second place in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series national points standings just 65 points behind Terry Casey. Earl and the team will travel to K-C Raceway for this weekends Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event in Chillicothe, OH on Saturday April 12th. The 50-lap feature event will pay $10,000 to the winner and also be taped for broadcast to shown on the SPEED Channel later this year.
